Renewed: The Sarah Jane Adventures

The BBC has renewed two new series of the Doctor Who spin-off while here are some new titles of Who episodes.

The BBC has renewed two new series (24 x 30-minutes) of  Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures.

The fourth series, set to air in the UK later this year, will again star Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane plus Tommy Knight, Daniel Anthony and Anjli Mohindra.

The series will go into production in Cardiff later this month with series three producer Nikki Wilson stepping up alongside Russell T. Davies as executive producer and new producer Brian Minchin joining the team.

Damian Kavanagh says: “We are thrilled to be making many more episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures.

“It is been a huge ratings and critical success on CBBC and we hope our viewers are going to be hooked on Sarah Jane‘s action-packed adventures for some time to come.”

A fifth series will go into production in 2011 for transmission later that year.

Meanwhile three more episode titles have been revealed for Doctor Who, although it is noted some could yet change.

Episodes 4 and 5 will be a two-part story; The Time of Angels and Flesh & Stone.

The two episodes were the first to be filmed for the new series which stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan and sees the return of actress Alex Kingston as Professor River Song. The two part story is written by Steven Mofatt.

Episode six is titled Vampires in Venice and is written by Being Human creator Toby Whithouse and directed by Jonny Campbell.

The first three episodes of the new series are provisionally titled The Eleventh Hour [which will be an hour-long special], The Beast Below and Victory of the Daleks.

The ABC has also revealed it has the rights to air the all-new Who from April but so far no airdate.

  1. Nick have been treating Sara-Jane with a lot of respect, showing the Tennant episodes as a special feature last week! But it would be great to see it come to ABC 3 if that was possible!

It would also be great to get the new episodes of Doctor Who at the same time as the rest of the world!! Eleventh Hour is going out on the Beeb on April 3 and on BBC America on April 17 – hopefully we can get the eps around the same time!!

And don’t forget we have the, filmed in Brisbane, K9 program to come on Ten to!!

  2. Craig: “All good Doc Who news, Sarah Jane is aimed to the kids but any true fan will watch it no matter their age and good on ABC for fast tracking the new Doctor. I just hope its really fast as some fans will not wait even a week.

Now we just need Torchwood news!”
There is also K9 as well as there is still no indication when it is going to come on 10.

  3. The SJA adventures would probably fit in on ABC3, Since it airs on Nickelodeon, It’s actually quite a good show.

I hope ABC can fasttrack s5 of Dr Who, Otherwise I may just download each week.

  5. Had expected a fourth season of SJA but quite a pleasant surprise on the news of a fifth season coming along at the same time.

Very glad the ABC decided to fasttrack Doctor Who for the upcoming series and I think the ABC should show the episodes no more than two weeks after its UK broadcast.
