Seven News Sydney will vacate its Martin Place home temporarily to broadcast live from a specially built studio at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Seven News Sydney will vacate its Martin Place home temporarily to broadcast live from a specially built studio at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

The national 11.30am and 4.30pm bulletins and updates will also be broadcast from the glass-walled facility which includes a fully equipped production office for technical, editorial and reporting staff.

“The Royal Easter Show is one of the biggest events in Sydney and is a real tradition with Sydneysiders and their families,” said Chris Willis, Director of News, Seven Sydney.

“We are looking forward to taking our entire news operation on the road to show people how the News is brought to air. We will also have the opportunity to get their feedback on what we’re doing.”

Royal Show patrons will have the chance to go behind the scenes and meet presenters and reporters.

Seven will be at the Show from from Thursday, April 1 to Friday, April 9.

  1. @JM – yeah exactly! Plus Seven had a FPC ad in the Official Easter Show guide published in the Sunday Telegraph (Nine had nothing). Nine needs to get their act together!

  2. @ Ben I agree with what your saying.
@ s leave your derogatory remarks at the door am surprised David let that through.
Ten were the first to take the News live to an outdoor event when they did Expo 88.
Its a good but very expensive move by Seven but with Nine News closing the gap it may just pay off.

  3. @Ben.
You will not even know where the first editions are coming from.. Same as always.. It’s for the people at the show.. So get back to Woolies, and stop commenting about what you don’t understand…

  4. @everyone. I’m sorry you seem to be missing the point. The Australian Open has a national interest value but isn’t broadcast nationally with morning and 4:30news services is it??? The Sydney Easter show is not of interest to anybody but people in Sydney but is being broadcast to a national audience through morning and 4:30news. It does not add up. Everybody get the point now? What’s to grow up about, I think it’s an outrage. The only good thing to come out of it would be a new set, but being so the national bulletins should then come from somewhere a little less obvious as Sydney. It’s great the 6pm Sydney bulletin is coming from there don’t get me wrong, but not the other bulletins.

  5. This appears to be basically the same arrangement that Seven have during the Australian Open where all Melbourne news (as well as TT) is broadcast from an outdoor studio at Melbourne Park.

  6. This is great for Sydney people but seriously do they have no shame… What about the poor perth people who never get any national exposure. I’m from victoria by the way so I’m taking into consideration other states. It will be good for a day to see the specially built studio and what not, but after that I’ll be turning away.
