Hot on the heels of NBC announcing a renewal for the US adaptation of Who Do You Think You Are?, Nine has announced the Australian premiere.
The first episode, in which Sarah Jessica Parker traces her ancestry, will air at 9:30pm Wednesday April 28th (updated).
Surprisingly, that slates it after Hey Hey it’s Saturday.
If the US version is anything like the UK and Australian editions, it’s a rather strange pairing.
A repeat of Cold Case will air at 10:30pm.
Lisa Kudrow, who produces the series, will also be one of the subjects along with Matthew Broderick, Brooke Shields, Susan Sarandon and Spike Lee. NFL player Emmett Smith appeared in the second episode -unlikely to be played sequentially here?
Who Do You Think You Are? traces the family trees of well known celebrities. This glimpse into the personal lives of celebrities will also unearth interesting elements of American history. Tonight Sarah Jessica Parker journey to discover her family trees takes her to Northern California and Salem Massachusetts.

I want to watch this show – US version or any versions – WDYTYA – meanwhile why is it not on right now on win/9 as the tv guide says ?? !!!! – I hate Tasmanian TV – nothing is on that you think is on – except way too much sport.
It was originally scheduled but then cancelled. Check your EPG not print guide. It starts next week now.
Laughing at League Freak’s comment below! 🙂
If ‘Hey Hey’ is going to be live & still pull some of the numbers it did last year, I wouldn’t expect ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ to air before 10pm. Just a thought…
I hear the Sarah Jessica Parker episode has an Australian link. She traces her family history back to Phar Lap.
With all the changes and ammendments at Nine at the moment, bet they change it before then…
I watched the Lisa Kudrow episode the other week, it was quite good. I’m not interested in the other celebrities so I wont watch the others. I find it is only interesting if you know who the person is.
Two episodes of WDYTYA? in one week (UK version on SBS on Sunday and US version on Nine on Wednesday) may be too much for some people.
9.30pm, what are they thinking? Given the rubbish that fills the Nine schedule, there has to be a better timeslot.
Weird placement, maybe they are hoping the ratings will rub off on WDYTYA?
BTW the US version is just like the others, just shorter, where as the UK version is up to 60 minutes long the US is barely over 40. The local version is right in the middle around 50 minutes.
