Dannii on Beautiful People

Wednesday night must be the toughest night of the TV year. How to choose what to watch?

The Pacific, Hey Hey it’s Saturday, So You Think You Can Dance Australia, MasterChef, Lowdown and over on Pay TV American Idol and Breaking Bad.

Meanwhile Dannii Minogue guest stars tonight on Beautiful People.

She plays a younger, nastier version of herself. In the scene, which is set in 1998, fame-hungry Dannii calls Aunty Hayley, also known as Holistic Hayls, for psychic advice.

  1. as much as this series has been a let down for me (compared to the first series), I’ve kept at it and the appearance by Dannii Minogue was indeed a highlight. And how many UK viewers do you reckon were thrown off by the Logie and Young Talent Time references?!?

Although why is that D & K Minogue can only score acting roles where they are taking the p***? Dannii in Beautiful People, Kylie in Kath & Kim, Kylie _and_ Dannii in that Kylie special a few years ago…

  2. Dancing, cooking and Hey Hey bore the crap outta me. The Pacific might be okay but it’s on Nine with ads – two reasons to give it a miss. I don’t have Pay TV and I can’t stand Beautiful People.

So I’ll be watching Lowdown (and loving it)…I hope.

  3. Easy decision – watch channel ten, tape Heartbreak High and Beautiful People and I am done.

7 and 9 are on about 1% of the time in my house, so I rarely have a problem.

Gee I hope MC wipes out HHISux!

  4. Wednesday’s are certainly crowded. Solid TV from 8:30 ’til past midnight. Love BP but catch it on Thursdays. It *is* OTT but I think it’s kinda meant to be.

Tell me about it. Its gotten to the point where I’ve actually started thinking about buying a second twin-tuner PVR. Thank God for iView.

  6. Tonight is not even close to being the toughest night of the year. There’s only two decent shows on – The Pacific and Breaking Bad. Fringe too I suppose, but it’s not in the same class as the two previous shows, though vastly preferable to BP, SYTYCDA and Hey Hey it’s Embarrassing. I am so over #$%%^& cooking shows it’s not funny!

  7. Apart from the Eurovision reference in an earlier episode, I’m not really loving this 2nd series of Beautiful People. Just don’t find it’s really hitting the mark this time around, some of it is a little bit forced and a bit deliberately OTT. Last week’s episode with Kylie’s father was a bit dark.

  8. You forgot to include Fringe, which is on at 8.30pm Wednesdays on GO! This is a gripping, well-produced show with echoes of the X-Files, only with better character development and a fascinating story arc. Sadly, as a sci-fi show, it probably doesn’t have the mass appeal of such intellectual shows as Hey Hey It’s Saturday.
