Desperate lawsuit as Nicollette Sheridan sues ABC Studios

Nicollette Sheridan is suing ABC and creator Marc Cherry for $20 million, claiming she was assaulted on the set and wrongly fired.

Former Desperate Housewives co-star Nicollette Sheridan is suing ABC Studios and creator Marc Cherry for $20 million, claiming she was assaulted on the set and wrongly fired.

Sheridan claims Cherry created a hostile work environment from the get go, “behaving in an extremely abusive and aggressive manner toward the individuals who work on the show.”

According to the lawsuit, “Cherry took her aside and forcefully hit her with his hand across her face and head” after she questioned him on a point in the script.

The suit claims after the alleged incident, Cherry went to her trailer to “beg forgiveness” but then had her character killed off later in the fifth season. Sheridan claims she informed ABC but the company did nothing.

“After she complained to her employer about Cherry’s improper behavior, Cherry arranged to have Sheridan terminated from the show, resulting in her losing millions in future earnings,” the lawsuit claims.

TMZ  even reports the suit alleges when Cherry found out Teri Hatcher went above his head to complain about him, he said, “I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies.”

Sheridan said her salary for the show was $175,000 an episode for the show’s fifth season (when the assault allegedly occurred), $200,000 for the sixth and $250,000 for the seventh.

Amongst its claims, the seven-count lawsuit alleges wrongful termination, assault and battery, gender violence (whatever that means), discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation and age, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

“While we have yet to see the actual complaint, we investigated similar claims made by Ms. Sheridan last year and found them to be without merit,” ABC Studios has said.

Sheridan’s finale aired in the US in April 2009.

  1. It was the worst decision to kill her off the show, i guess we all know why now. Its so unfair that the producers think they can prance in and do what they damn well want.

There is also talk that the same studio, is partially to blame for Katie Heigl leaving Grey’s Anatomy and not Shonda. I guess we will never know.

  2. Whether it’s all true or not, the fact is that the show hasn’t been the same since Nicollette Sheridan was axed and has gone downhill without Edie, in my opinion.
