Jana: “No truth at all”

Jana Wendt says there is no truth at all to rumours she is returning to TV but reckons it was a pretty funny gag.

Jana Wendt has denied spurious media reports (well one, anyway) that she has signed a deal with the Seven Network.

Chatting today to Melbourne radio station GOLD FM, Wendt was asked about the rumour by hosts ‘Grubby and Dee Dee.’

“There’s no truth at all to it,” she said. “It came to my attention earlier this morning and I thought it was very funny. Whoever wrote that has a good sense of humour but it’s April Fools.”

Most readers picked up on the story’s facts becoming more and more bizarre as it proceeded.

ABC Managing Director Mark Scott Tweeted that “Ok. I admit it. I got quite a long way through this unblinking. But it was early.”

TV Tonight understands one network rep also fell hard for it.

Clearly there are a lot of people wishfully thinking Jana back on the box would be a good idea, including yours truly.

Last year’s April Fools story on TV Tonight was the exclusive on the end of the Fugly Awards -but it was deliberately published on April 1 so that most readers would cry “April Fools” only to be later pranked by the reality that it was actually true. A 2008 story on a revival of Hey Dad! starring Nudge is probably best left alone now…

More seriously Ms. Wendt is promoting her new book to media, including The Circle this morning and The 7PM Project tonight.

Given Jana has been such a good sport, here is another link Pan Macmillan’s publication, Nice Work.

  1. LOL! I never know what to believe today.

Speaking of which, this morning on The Morning Show, Larry and Kylie were sucked in by an April fools joke. About some big statue of Capt Cook/George Washington at a Cairns pub. I’m positive they thought it was a real story, as they both looked very very very sheepish when they found out it was a joke. It was quite funny to see them squirm at their own gullibility. lol.
