k.d. lang to croon for Logies
No Susan Boyle? But the Logies lands the better vocalist, as k.d lang returns to the streets of Melbourne

k.d. lang will perform at the TV Week Logie Awards.
The announcement of lang replaces the cancellation by Susan Boyle last week.
The Canadian chanteuse is a huge fan of Australia, having toured here several times.
In her song ‘I Dream Of Spring’, she even wrote about her affection for Melbourne with the lyrics, “I return from the streets from the Melbourne, I return my love.” The song would surely have to be a high chance of being sung on the night.
lang recently stole the show at the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. She was also interviewed by Eddie McGuire in the Nine Vancouver studio. No word yet if she will also front on Hey Hey it’s Saturday (probably).
Gabriella Cilmi and John Mayer will also perform. lang’s appearance continues the inclusion of an international singer in Annie Lennox in 2009 and many more before.
The loss of Susan Boyle was a significant one, but it looks like the Logies just got the better singer after all.

There is no doubt kd is a fantastic singer as is Susan Boyle (yes she is) but for (you know what’s) sake can we please have an Australian awards show with Australian entertainment…please!
@ effdee, because usually they pick an ‘of the moment’ aussie artist like Delta or Shannon Noll in past years, but I think the only one this year would be Vanessa Amorossi whose out of the country as far as I know.
I love KD Lang, much better than Boyle IMO 🙂 a true professional :):) Cant be bothered with the Logies, but I’ll tune in to see the performance 😛
Why the hell can’t we have Aussie Artists!!!
I hope she sings “I dreamed a dream”
That’s great news. kd is such a class act and the fact that she is the second choice singer is baffling in itself, but it will be a real pleasure to see her perform.
I hope she sings Crying. Other then the Big O himself no one else can do that song to perfection.
Wow,great news K.D is amazing what a voice. She will add some class to the night.
I love K.D Lang, I can’t wait to see her with Bert, and she gets us Aussies.
Great, she’s a fantastic singer! I was just watching her interview with Dame Edna on Youtube – it still cracks me up!
As long as she doesn’t sing that bloody “Hallelujah” song! Good song and she does a great job but enough already!
@John exactly
Do we not have singers in the country?Do we not have our own celebs??
Why the need for imports every year???
I’m with the other people posting messages before me – kd is an altogether classier, and infinetly more sturdy musical act. Australia is a second home for her, and the feeling seems quite mutual from nearly 20 years of tours and appearances. Now that’s what i’m talking bout!!!!! I can already see the cutaways to a swaying Rebecca Gibney and Mumsie Doyle to the impeccable tones of Ms Lang – bring it on!
Brilliant – what a step up!!
Maybe is just me, but I’d rather see k.d perform than sit through Susan Boyle any day!
Wow great news, K.D. Lang is a remarkable performer and a very nice person as well.
Who needs a reality TV winner like Susan Boyle when you can have a classy lady who can actually sing?
Thats just fantastic news. That knockout performance at the Winter Olympics was epic. Definately got the better singer, and because we already have the International performer with k.d, I would gladly do without John Mayer, and add another Australian talent.
Don’t forget the Rogue Traders are performing as well.
