Nine inches ahead in second Easter battle

Nine inched ahead of Seven to take the second week of Easter non-ratings, indicative of how close the two rivals are in the wider game.

The Nine Network inched ahead of Seven to take the second week of Easter non-ratings. After Seven snatched the first of the 2 week break, the 1-each split is indicative of just how close both rivals are in the wider game. As official survey ratings return today, the 2010 ratings war remains deadly close, but leaves viewers as the winners with plenty of choice.

The Nine Network won with 28.0% over Seven’s 27.8% and TEN’s 21.4%. The ABC had 17.0% and SBS 5.8%.

In digital channels GO! had 3.9%, 7TWO 3.5%, ONE 2.1%, ABC2 1.6%, SBS TWO 0.5% and ABC3 0.4%.

Nine again won all three key demos 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

Nine won Monday to Thursday, leaving Seven Sunday, Friday and Saturday. Nine also won Sydney and Brisbane, Seven won Adelaide and Perth while Melbourne was a dead heat between both. The ABC finished second on Saturday and third on Friday.

A Top Gear repeat was the top show for the week.

Official survey ratings now continue to the end of November.

ASTRA: Week 15

Week 15

  1. I really struggle to understand Nine’s logic.

Customs gets almost 1.3 million, and they drop in from this coming week? Its quite obvious that its not all about the ratings, because what other network would drop a show with those figures?

  2. @Steven Guy: it’s prob that are a lot of people who just don’t consider watching SBS (or ABC).

@Craig: Ten? – pah! I’m waiting for when 72 inches ahead of GO!

  3. Are the numbers calculated to more than one decimal place as the daily figures only give a difference of 0.3 points for the week. The week could even be a draw if the rounding wasn’t done correctly.

  4. Easter has been good to neighbors in an otherwise poor week for 10 again. Interesting that only 5 shows (excluding news etc) reached the so called new benchmark of 1.2 million. If it doesn’t improve from here on in, then that number may have to be readdressed.

  5. I can’t believe that Top Gear is a 500,000 veiwer better show on 9 than it was on SBS. Just proves there is generation of viewers out there who still believe if it’s on 9 it must be good !

  6. @KFed – Ha Ha, so poor 7 then but lucky TEN if it comes up.

It will be interesting to see how far Top Gear falls in the coming weeks, after the new eps end. David is there any news on how quickly Nine will show new eps when it resumes in the UK in June/July.

  7. Given the re-run ratings I can see lots and lots of Tog Gear re-runs in the future on both Nine and GO!

Maybe this year will be closer than the last couple but I’m still thinking Seven will win the total number of weeks.
