An appeal by a former Sydney police officer against the Nine Network to gain access to Underbelly has been lost.
Wendy Hatfield appealed against last month’s decision by the NSW Supreme Court to preview episodes of Underbelly: The Golden Mile to see if it defamed her.
She alleged the series was based on a book that she believes has defamed her by suggesting she had a sexual relationship with Kings Cross nightclub boss John Ibrahim.
The case has been dismissed by the Court of Appeal, with legal costs.
Nine is yet to indicate if it will edit any scenes involving ‘Constable Wendy’ played by actress Jessica Tovey.
Hatfield could yet launch a defamation case against Nine after the series airs.
Underbelly: The Golden Mile premieres on Sunday.

This is surely just a media beat up, to gain publicity for the show.. as if a court would rule over a TV show to a cop.
Has this woman sued the publisher of the book that she says defamed her?
I keep reading about her taking 9 to court but haven’t read the book was taken off shelves.
Underbelly has lost its appeal, yes.
