Airdate: Chuck

Chuck is coming to GO! Plus news on The Middle, New Adventures of Old Christine, ER and Gossip Girl.

GO! is giving its 7:30pm timeslot a bit of a spruce up with the arrival of Chuck and the addition of The Middle and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

While the latter two have aired intermittently on Nine, Chuck is new to Free to Air television.

The Middle, featuring Patricia Heaton, will air from 7:30pm Tuesday May 11 followed by The New Adventures of Old Christine at 8pm (S3E1).

Chuck premieres 7:30pm Wednesday May 12.

When Chuck Bartowski opens an e-mail subliminally encoded with government secrets, he unwittingly downloads an entire server of sensitive data into his brain. Now, the fate of the world lies in the unlikely hands of a guy who works at an electronics store. Instead of fighting computer viruses, he must now confront assassins and international terrorists. Stars Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strzechowki and Adam Baldwin.

The series by Josh Schwartz (Gossip Girl, The OC) has previously aired on FOX8 and is awaiting a decision by NBC on a fourth season.

These amendments replace Seinfeld, Frasier repeats from 7:30 – 8:30.

Meanwhile from next Thursday, May 13 there will be ER doubles at 9:35, 10:35 replacing Gossip Girl in the later slot. These continue on May 20.

  1. I love that GO! are finally showing new shows and gotten out of the Frasier/Seinfeld repeat rotation. I think that the repeats got a nice 115,000 nightly, which is why GO probably didn’t change them so quickly. But I’ve always been meaning to check out “Chuck” and yearning for “The Middle” (yes, even if they’re repeats). My PVR will need a larger hard drive starting this week, stat!
BTW @Amir – i don’t usually agree with the “this is what you should do to your station” ideas, but I think that TBBT @8:30pm before Community @9pm is an excellent idea. Community is getting around the 120,000 mark but does deserve more.

  2. GREAT news! Been waiting a very long time for Chuck to finally air, even though I’ve already seen the whole first season and some of season two. Also great news that GO! are building a comedy block on Tuesdays. All they need to do now is move that double Big Bang Theory on Thursdays to Tuesdays (strip it down to one ep) at 8:30 to give Community a push and put a new drama on Thursday following Top Gear.
    Love GO!

  3. Yes the ER season showing on GO! is the final season.

I would have thought The Middle would have returned to nine at some stage. Didn’t it do ok in the ratings over summer?

  4. Chuck is a great show. Seeing an Australian commercial network has finally decided to air it, I bet it doesn’t get a 4th season.

3rd seasons the weakest so far, but it’s still one of the better shows on tv.

  5. David, can you clarify if these are new eps of Middle & Christine, or repeats of eps already aired on nine.

I’m with you, chk chk – bring on Pushing Daisies!

  6. Just after the DVDs have been released locally, and just in time for it to be cancelled in the US, which seems likely.

Chuck has been my favourite US show for the last three years. I can’t figure out why it has not been embraced by the world at large, or by local free-to-air.

  7. Ok so is this correct

    Monday 7.30-8.30pm Wife Swap USA
Tuesday 7.30pm The Middle, 8pm Old Christine
    Wednesday 7.30pm – 8.30pm Chuck
    Thursday 7.30pm – 8.30pm Frasier /Seinfeld
    Friday 7.30pm – 8.30pm Frasier /Seinfeld

    ?

  8. How well does Seinfeld and Frasier rate anyway ? Is that timeslot so important for ratings anyway , I thought the point of these new channels was they could put shows that didn’t work out on there.

GO! is becoming less of a youth channel and more of a mixed bits and pieces like Channel 72 channel.

  9. Wow this is really a very good news! I’m a fan of Chuck and already got that on DVD but so glad to hear that The Middle and Chrisitne are coming back. Now if Go! can also air Pushing Daisies.

Can somebody please tell me if the ER season that’s airing now on Go! is the final season where George Clooney has re-appeared because I’m only interested on that episode?

  10. So it took Nine Network 32 months to finally show Chuck since it began in the US. Seeing as everyone else has pretty much seen it on Fox8 or other sources, I dont expect it to rate well.
As for Christine, GO! showed this on Sunday nights when the channel launched. It didnt last long at all, so I dont expect it to stay around for long.
Should they show The Middle from S01E01 again, then the atings wont be great for that either.

  11. Chuck?! no way

that’s great news. I was wondering the other day if or when this show would air on Free TV.

Funnily I’ve got season 1 and 2 on DVD for sometime now, yet I’m still stuck on seaon 1 because of the “i’ve got it on dvd, the show can wait” syndrome

  12. Yay! Chuck!

I’ve been buying the DVDs from the US, but I’ll happily watch the series again on “Go”. Of course, it suits Channel 9’s strategy to start screening a TV series in Australia just as it appears to be cancelled in the US.

  13. Best day ever. I’ve been waiting so long to see Chuck, but couldn’t because I don’t have Pay TV. Pity it has to be on Wednesday – The PVR Hell Day.

  14. Sad to see Seinfeld go but Yay for The Middle and The New Adventures of Old Christine. Okay the second will never replay Seinfeld but it’s veg-out TV. As for The Middle, another good new show, not quite as good as Modern Family but again worth a few laughs.

And a very big Yay for Chuck, a great show and I hope it gets a 4th season, or I’ll have to send NBC a few Subways!

  15. Finally! Chuck is an awesome show; Go waited a tad too long for me though it was promised when the channel launched but after months of no show I bought Season 1 DVD; I might not get around to buying Season 2 just yet so I might watch the rest there.

Good news about the Middle though!! Go needed to change up some of its 7.30 timeslots. I’ve seen up to the Season 5 of Old Christine.
