Airdate: Gold Week Telethon

Channel Nine in Sydney and regional NSW will be holding a telethon for the Sydney Children’s Hospital on across the state.

Channel Nine in Sydney and regional NSW will be holding a telethon for the Sydney Children’s Hospital on June 11th, across the state.

The event to take place from 9am – 7pm is part of  the Gold Week appeal, the Hospital’s major annual fundraising campaign.

Nine stars will appear in the telethon.

But at this stage it is unclear what form the telethon will take. Despite sending out details about the worthy event, Nine was unable to clarify quite how the event will take place.

Nine’s information doesn’t yet list any shows that will be broadcasting from the hospital or whether other Nine daytime programming, such as Ellen, Days of our Lives or Hot Seat will still air. Nine was unable to advise TV Tonight if the event is a series of interstitials in between normal programming or a major telethon similar to the Good Friday Appeal with celebrity-phone room, donations panel and entertainment.

At least there is still some time up their sleeve, as this is obviously a good cause.

Channel Nine in partnership with Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation will stage the Gold Week Telethon on Friday, June 11 from 9.00am to 7.00pm.

The stars of Channel Nine are supporting this worthy cause to raise as much money as possible for kids who need a helping hand as part of Gold Week, the Hospital’s major annual fundraising campaign. Each year Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick touches the lives of more than 300,000 children from across NSW and beyond.

Adam Check, Chief Executive of Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation, said: “Thanks to Channel Nine, everyone in New South Wales will have a golden opportunity to support our sick and injured children and help make their futures brighter.

“The funds raised in the telethon will purchase life-saving technology, vital services and equipment, and go towards research and refurbishments to make the Hospital a better place for families.

“We urge Nine’s viewers all over the State to show they care by supporting this special telethon.”

Tom Malone, Nine’s Head of Morning Television, said the telethon was a fantastic opportunity for the Nine Network to make a major contribution to the community. ”We’d love everyone to get behind this – people at home, schools, sporting teams, workplaces so we can make a real difference to thousands of families”

The Gold Week Telethon will broadcast LIVE from the Nine studios in Sydney, hosted by favourite Channel Nine personalities, with live crosses to the Sydney Children’s Hospital throughout the day.

  1. The telethon is on Nine Sydney this Friday at 9:00-11:00am and 12:00-4:30pm. Nine is advertising it on-air. Regular programing is on NBN and WIN NSW.

  2. Nothing wrong with the sentiment, but the timing is dodgy. Daytime telethon, most likely to be watched by those at home during the day. Retirees who are tightening their belts. Stay at home parents who only have one income. The unemployed.

At least people were home on the Good Friday/Brisbane telethons days. It’d make more sense if it were held on the holiday Monday, when the bigger dollar earners are home.

  3. Didn’t they just have one for the baby hospital on the same day of the Good Friday Appeal? Does anyone have anything left to donate.. at least spread it out a bit.

I’m guessing Karl & Lisa will be hosting this?
