Airdate: Matthew Hayden’s Home Ground

Retired Aussie cricketer Matthew Hayden brings his love of family, the outdoors and food to the small screen.

The LifeStyle Channel will launch Matthew Hayden’s Home Ground in June.

The six-part one-hour series follows profiles the cricketer in retirement, his family, love of the outdoors and food.  In each episode, Hayden creates a range of  dishes including Sri Lankan Dhal and Tandoori Chicken and Lamb on the barbie and even his Mum Moya’s Chocolate Macadamia Pudding. Along with his family the series will feature horticulturist Nicole Moon.

“After years of cricket, touring, training and team-work, I’ve decided to focus on some of my other passions and dedicate some time and energy to my little corner of the world,” said Matthew Hayden. “The farmer in me wants to reconnect with the land, the cook wants to grow his own veggies and the dad wants his kids to know where their food comes from. Like a lot of people, I just want to do things a little bit better.”

Nicole Sheffield, General Manager, LifeStyle Channels said, “The LifeStyle Channel is uniquely Australian. Every program is selected or created for an Australian audience to help them enjoy their favourite thing, their lifestyle.

“Matthew Hayden is passionate about his lifestyle and adding this Aussie legend and his change of life to our line-up is a perfect match. Matthew’s Home Ground journey goes to the heart of what we value most about our lifestyle – our home, our family and our food.”

Hayden has two cookbooks published.

It begins on Sunday June 6 at 6:30pm.

  1. Hayden, come back to CSK. We were very very disappointed this time as you did not play this IPL. We will be awaiting you in 2010.

    Bye

  2. I think the show sounds amazing and what a great and different thing to start we have all had enough of plain old cooking shows, Well done Matthew Hayden!!!

  3. League Freak, re your comments about “The most boring person on the face of the planet” – I agree somewhat but my money is on Greg Norman.

  4. I have to agree with the other posters. This concept seems completely at odds with his fanbase of bogan cricket fans. And we are supposed to believe there aren’t an army of hard-working researchers and writers making this mediocre sportsman look even more like a Mr Know-it-all. Now I know why I cancelled my Foxtel.

  5. “After years of cricket, touring, training and team-work, I’ve decided to focus on some of my other passions” – I guess he’s referring to his massive ego.

  6. The most boring person on the face of the planet. How these bland, boring cricketers get shows when they retire is beyond me. They have a BBQ or drink some wine and all of a sudden they are experts we are support to listen to? Give me a break!

  7. Having watching the first episode of this a couple of months ago, I have to say it was the most boring, smug and un-interesting show. It was hard enough to put up with his constant bragging, his dreary family and their unfunny stories let alone his terrible annunciation and the lame cricket puns.
