Australian-made animated shorts The Beach Crew will launch on KidsCo in June and in more than 80 countries from September.

Produced by Victorian-based production company, The Beach Crew Productions, the environmentally themed series follows the crime fighting adventures of Billy Boogie, Sammy Surfboard and Mini Malibu as they seek to protect their beach from the dastardly plans of Cash Coin and Slimy Seaweed.

Eighteen x 5 minute episodes were created by Simon Schauble (pictured, centre), inspired by his passion for surfing.

Schauble said, “Surf culture – which is a healthy, active lifestyle – is a really great message for kids.

“And of course the beach is synonymous with living in Australia as an estimated 90 percent of Australia’s population lives within 120 kilometres of the coast.”

Paul Robinson, Managing Director at KidsCo, added. “The Beach Crew is exactly the type of Australian-made programming KidsCo has been looking for since we premiered on Foxtel and Austar (on channel 718) in November.

“I’ve been meeting with producers on my two recent visits to Australia, talking about projects we can take around the world. This acquisition is great news for Australian producers because KidsCo is able to support the local production industry by offering global as well as domestic exposure for locally-made shows.”

The Beach Crew will screen from June 7th, weekdays at 7.10am, 8.05am and 4pm and weekends at 7am, 8.15am, 4.20pm and 4.50pm.

It will be screened in 18 languages, including Spanish and Mandarin, when it broadcasts internationally across KidsCo’s Asia-Pacific feed.

  1. Leon, The Beach Crew has been reversioned for KidsCo since screening on Fox8. It will be launching on KidsCo in Australia in June and – as per David’s story – now has a new permanent home on KidsCo in more than 80 countries around the world from September. If you liked it on Fox8, we hope you’ll like the refreshed version on KidsCo from next month.
