More details are in on television coverage for the return of Jessica Watson this Saturday for TEN and ONE, her network sponsor.

Bill Woods will host for TEN and ONE HD as thousands of people are expected to converge on Sydney Harbour and the Sydney Opera House, waving pink flags to welcome the 16yo sailor home.

He will be joined by Jessica’s official welcome party which includes 30 family flown in from overseas and fellow
round-the-world sailors Jesse Martin and Mike Perham, the youngest person to sail across the Atlantic.

TEN’s Senior Political Correspondent Hugh Riminton will be the only journalist travelling on the VIP boat with Jessica’s family and will have the exclusive interview with Jessica’s parents, brother and sister.

Jesse Martin and Mike Perham will board Ella’s Pink Lady and with exclusive access to the yacht which has been her home since October 18th last year.

Sandra Sully will also be on ground to MC official proceedings, while Kathryn Robinson will be at the Opera House.

TEN will also broadcast Jessica Watson: Sailing Into History on Sunday, May 16 at 6.00pm while Charlie Pickering will also have a one on one interview with Jessica in The 7PM Project on Monday, May 17 at 7.00pm.

Updated: Meanwhile Nine has announced Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson will host Jessica Watson: The Homecoming Live from 11am for two hours with highlights at 5:30pm in Jessica Watson: Welcome Home. Charles Woolley will interview her on 60 Minutes.

Updated: Seven has indicated Mark Ferguson will host a live Seven cross to Jessica’s arrival. And a Seven News chartered yacht with World Champion female surfer Layne Beachley will be among the first to greet her as she sails into Sydney Harbour. At 5.30 pm Tony Squires will host a Seven News special – Jessica Watson – The Home Coming. It will feature all the pictures of her arrival, her reunion with her parents, the first media conference back on Australian soil and interviews with experts including one of the world’s top solo sailors, Australia’s Jon Sanders, who has circumnavigated the globe seven times.

Watson is currently sailing along the NSW coast.

  1. Wow she’s done it. Congrats Jessica. What an achievemnet.

    Though I am against you being allowed to have undertake such a dangerous endeavour.

    There is a reason why most states don’t allow 16yr olds to drive, purchase alcohol, legally attend nightclubs, the list goes on.

    I think we have to protect our ‘children’ from such dangers until they are old enough both mentally and legally to make their own descions.

  2. sydney2k that information is incorrect she only had to pass the equator once which she did at the north pacific ocean, the only reason she has missed out on the record is because of her age, which i find unfair, i have followed her blog from day one so am thrilled about the tv coverage this Sunday.. Go Jess

  3. Jessica should sail up the coast for another 1000km and then back down again to make up that missing 2000km she is supposed to have sailed in the Atlantic!
