Sky News presenter Jim Waley has been diagnosed with a recurrence of cancer in his left ear and has taken leave from his role as anchor of Sky National News.
Waley suffered a basal cell carcinoma in 2003.
“It is curable, so I will be spending the next few months dealing with this nuisance, and unfortunately be away from the Sky News desk. The irony is, I am feeling great, and consider this a health speed bump,” he said.
“The cancer was discovered during an operation on Tuesday on my left ear canal. I am extremely fortunate that doctors discovered it early and I can now concentrate on beating it.”
Sky News Chief Executive, Angelos Frangopoulos, said: “Jim is an integral part of the Sky News family. He’s a real fighter, he beat skin cancer seven years ago and we wish him a very speedy and full recovery.”
Foxtel Chief Executive, Kim Williams AM, said: “Jim’s health is the number one priority at this time and everyone at Foxtel wishes him an early and complete recovery.”
