Logie Awards 2010: Gallery

The 52nd TV Week Logie Awards played it safe this year, but there were big wins by Seven, TEN and SBS.

The 52nd TV Week Logie Awards are underway at Crown Palladium.

The show opened with Gabriella Cilmi and dancers from Fame performing before Bert Newton emerged to a standing ovation and a rousing cheer -of course. The Logies host had come home.

“Thankyou ladies and gentleman and executives,” he said.

Newton then launched into a traditional routine, including a gag at Christine Nixon’s expense.

  1. Hosting was better than previous years, like others who have highlighted it over the last few hours, i thought it ended on a weird note – getting a plug in for the tv week magazine. I would not have had all of those musical acts, K.D Lang was more than enough for the entertainment. They didn’t need to overload it with Gabriella Cilmi, John Mayer or the Rogue Traders. It would have cut out some time from the broadcast too – the performances, as well as the commercials prior to and after their performances. I also loved the twitter remarks by some of the stars, as well as other couch potato’s throughout the broadcast.

  2. I enjoyed the coverage. bert was funny, loved his Max Markson joke. I liked how he didn’t go around the room and bother people like Gretel did last year. How much would ch9 be spewing they only won the 1 logie. Underbelly took zilch which im sure they are angry about. Also loved how Bert said aren’t ch9 having a great night. he hosted it very well.

The only thing that didn;t work was the jokes the presenters tried to do between each other when presenting.

  3. Ah, the Logies. Three hours of viewing for about five minutes of entertainment. And why do we still have that cultural cringe? As much as I love kd, we have our own musicians!

  4. Hi David- thanks for the excellent coverage of the logies. I am living/working in Dubai and check out your website each day (sometimes twice a day) to catch up on tv goss from home. I have been following you for years now (still remember when you changed the layout of your blog). Keep up the fantastic work and thanks again for all your efforts.!

  5. Just wondering, does anyone know what version that was of “Time After Time” in the In Memoriam tribute? I thought it was lovely and would really like to know the artist? Thanks.

  6. Obvoiusly worst dressed goes to – Brynn Edelsten. I can’t believe she is only 26! She looks more like a 62 year old who’s had too much plastic surgery.

And Eric McNaught – did she not look in a mirror before going out? Huge black frills flapping out the front of her dress, made her look shapeless.

Best dressed – Jennifer Hawkins, gorgeous white mini.

Also, is no one working at Channel 9 web site tonight? They have almost no updates or pics there at the mo.

  7. KD Lang’s performance was incredible and the highpoint of the night. It was a great shame that Bert detracted from it by makin ginapproriate and oofence references to her sexuality, making the bizarre statement “can we talk about marriage?” and “can i come by the dressing room and swapp suits”.

Bert referred to the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics as the “Montreal Games” three times. KD Lang was polite enough not to correct him.

Give it up Bert and loose some eight while you’re at it.

  8. lets hope so Kuttsywood.
It must be a concern to channel 9 if the best they can offer is the nrl footy show. They are having an awful night; only one logie so far
