Next week MasterChef features Melbourne locations, in a week of episodes for sponsor Tourism Victoria.

Episodes of MasterChef next week feature locations for sponsor Tourism Victoria.

Contestants compete in a series of challenges at Melbourne’s Langham Hotel, in CBD laneways, the Movida restaurant, and George Calombaris’ Press Club. The Yarra Valley’s Chandon winery is also featured.

The Victorian Government hopes they will encourage interstate visitors to the state’s food hotspots.

Victorian Tourism Minister Tim Holding said, “MasterChef is a ratings hit and the perfect vehicle to promote Melbourne’s ‘foodie’ credentials Australia-wide.

“After the success of MasterChef series one, Tourism Victoria signed up to be a sponsor to encourage more people from interstate to visit Melbourne and regional Victoria.”

Sports identities Gary Ablett Jr, Lance “Buddy” Franklin, Mick Malthouse, Cooper Cronk and Andrew Mackie will appear as dining guests in the Wednesday night challenge.

The show will visit London later in the season.

Monday: The contestants are Melbourne bound and Stephanie Alexander is tonight’s guest chef. She has a challenge in store that is going to see the contestants put their ability to multi-task to the test.

Tuesday: Legendary Melbourne chef Frank Camorra of Movida is tonight’s celebrity chef. He will cook off against the winning contestant from Sunday night’s invention challenge in one of Melbourne’s laneways.

Wednesday: George Calombaris’ Press Club Restaurant is the scene for the team challenge. The two teams are responsible for cooking and serving up a four course meal for 60 VIPs.

Thursday: For the winning team; a reward lunch at the famous Chandon winery in the Yarra Valley. For the losing team; an elimination.

  1. The Age Green Guide has a feature article on the celebrity chef challenge against Frank Camorra. It was filmed at Hosier Lane, between the Forum Theatre and MoVida restaurant, near the corner of Flinders and Russell Streets in the CBD. I am going to see the actual laneway on Monday to find what it was like to cook there. (The Press Club is just up a block, near the corner of Exhibition and Flinders Streets, in the old Herald and Weekly Times building)
