Damages finally gets its third diabolical season on Australian TV next month as Glenn Close returns as scheming lawyer Patty Hewes, alongside Australia’s Rose Byrne as Ellen Parsons.

Returning too is Tate Donovan, as Patty’s right-hand man Tom Shayes, and later in the season Ted Danson as Arthur Frobisher.

Joining the cast are Lily Tomlin and Martin Short in dramatic roles plus Campbell Scott, Keith Carradine and Reiko Aylesworth.

Whether this becomes the final season of Damages is unclear with a fourth yet to be greenlit. Fingers crossed. Dynamite show.

Picking up the story ten months after the season two finale, Patty Hewes is the court-appointed trustee representing the victims of financier Louis Tobin‟s $70 billion Ponzi scheme. With Ellen Parsons having left to work as an Assistant D.A. prosecuting drug crimes, Patty‟s immediate challenge is to keep her angry and destitute clients from seeking their own revenge as she sorts through mountains of complex paperwork in search of any ill-gotten gains that Tobin stashed away. Squaring off against Patty is Leonard Winstone (Martin Short), an attorney charged with protecting the Tobin family from the aggrieved investors. As she tellsTom Shayes she wants to add his name to the firm, Patty questions Marilyn Tobin (Lily Tomlin) about how her husband confessed to hiscrimes during Thanksgiving dinner. Claiming no knowledge of the fraud or any money Louis may have hidden, Marilyn insists that she and her son Joe (Campbell Scott) –who alerted the authorities to the illegal scheme –would like nothing more than to make the fleeced investors whole. Meanwhile, as Tom uses a chance meeting to tell Ellen that Patty would love for her to come back to the firm.

It returns 7:30pm Thursday June 17th on W channel.

  1. Wow, I thought it was coming back for a fourth season… only for a second though.

The third season ends so well though I kinda hope it is last one…

  2. So Ted Danson didn’t die at the end of S1 – oops, haven’t watched S2 yet – better get around to it once I’ve cleared the current backlog!
