Griff Rhys Jones (Not the Nine O’Clock News, Alas Smith & Jones) is back on the box next week visiting six of the greatest cities on earth for a new six-part documentary series on ABC1.
Exploring a day-in-the-life of these famous cities Griff paints a landmark portrait of each metropolis revealing what gives each city its unique identity. From serving breakfast in New York, to late night dinner in Paris, and beer in London, Griff gets stuck into the daily life of some of the best known cities in the world. As well as New York, London and Paris he also visits Rome, Hong Kong and our very own Sydney during his travels.
In this opening episode Griff takes on New York – what does he find when he peels the Big Apple? By rolling up his sleeves and delving behind the scenes, Griff uncovers how the different cities work as living machines, and discovers some astonishing secrets. Armed with his trademark humour and relentless curiosity, Griff tracks down the individuals who epitomise the character of each city, and celebrates the infinite variety of life within them.
Greatest Cities in the World with Griff Rhys Jones premieres 8:30pm Tuesday June 15th.

i swear in the back of some of these guys minds they go ” ooohh i know how to get free travel from this idea of a series”
Whot, Melbourne not on the list!
Apart from the money, Tiger Woods obviously finds something else attractive in Bleak City.
I don’t think ABC can offer anything in HD because I’ve noticed that channel is now just a straight SD feed of ABC1 Sydney with no ABC HD watermark & Stateline NSW broadcast on Friday nights & Saturday afternoons. Must be scaling back before ABC News24 starts?
will be watching with interest considering the alternatives elsewhere are rubbish.
Might catch this on iview.
Why would they offer it in HD considering that ABC News 24 is launching on the HD channel real soon now.
Enjoyed his rivers series. Looking forward to this one too.
ABC is getting better….not long after its UK debut. But still no HD.
Sounds like a great series I’ll be setting the PVR for sure; I’m heading to London, Paris and Rome at the end of the year so would be good to see some of the more obscure things tourists don’t always see as the series will be looking at day to day life I think….
Also been and feel in love with New York and have always wanted to visit Hong Kong
