Medical drama HawthoRNe with Jada Pinkett-Smith and Michael Vartan comes to the Universal Channel, formerly Hallmark, in July.

When Hallmark rebrands as the Universal Channel in July it will bring with it the Australian premiere of medical drama HawthoRNe featuring Jada Pinkett-Smith (The Matrix Revolutions) and Michael Vartan (Alias).

Pinkett-Smith, who is also an Executive Producer, stars as Christina Hawthorne, the Chief Nursing Officer heading a group of nurses at Richmond Trinity Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

The series from TNT premiered in the US in June last year. So far ten episodes have aired, but another 10 begin this week in the US. It was created by John Masius (Providence, Dead Like Me, Touched by an Angel).

The cast also features Australia’s Adam Garcia in 4 episodes.

Double episodes will air from 6:30pm Saturday July 3rd.

    BTW do we know what other Universal show will not go on the new channel, maybe Parenthood since Seven haven’t announced anything about the show yet?

  2. And can I say – brickbats to who ever took the promo shot or screencapped it – I didn’t think it was possible to make Michael Vartan look unattractive!!

  3. Damn thought they were doing a reality program based on my favourite footy team!! I’m over medical dramas – and the best one of the year got canned!!!

  4. I will give this show a go. I know there are endless medical dramas and to work out how different this one is will have to watch the first episode and then decide to series link or not. Looks better than the other ones.
