The latest crime special to be scheduled by Seven takes a look at the murder of two young Victorian policeman in South Yarra in 1988.

Known as the “Walsh Street” murders the officers were responding to a report of an abandoned car when they were gunned down.

The Australian film Animal Kingdom is said to be loosely based on aspects of the case.

The chilling blow-by-blow true account of the ambush and murder of Constable Steven Tynan and Probationary Constable Damian Eyre, including interviews with the victim’s families, emergency service workers, witnesses at the scene and the police officers who manned the subsequent investigation.

It airs 8:30pm Wednesday June 30th on Seven.
