Hot Seat million dollar question

Can 70-year-old pastor Paul Wolfenden become the first contestant to win the Hot Seat million dollars?

As on air promos have teased, Monday’s Hot Seat will ask a million-dollar question.

Paul Wolfenden will be the third contestant in the show’s history to try his luck.

The 70-year-old pastor from Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast has travelled to more than 50 countries preaching, teaching and mentoring, and plans to continue his work helping street kids in Indonesia and Vietnam if he takes home the grand prize. If he wins the $1 million he will fulfil his dream of building a leadership training school for international students and buying his family a new home.

More than $6 million in prizemoney has been won since the quiz show began in April 2009, and now the million-dollar question is: will Paul be Hot Seat’s first millionaire?

The Hot Seat promos that tease the money might go off are more sensible than Seven’s recent Deal promos which gave away the entire outcome.

It airs 5:30pm Monday on Nine.

  1. @ Scott: Because of seven’s blunt and spoiler-ridden advertising, I didn’t bother to tune in to deal or no deal. If they had said “someone will win big this week/ today” then I certainly would have made sure deal was on in the background instead of another channel.

  2. The woman who won the 200,000 on Deal or no Deal – her last two cases were 100,000 and 200,000 – it wouldn’t have made much sense to advertise she is going to choose between those because it is not that exciting… then what will seven advertise about? That she has 3 green in the last 6 cases? It all becomes too confusing…

I liked how 7 advertised someone was going to win the 200,000 that week – it was exciting to watch it all unfold on the day.

  3. I love how Eddie’s head looks like it’s about to explode in that photo. Never mind someone winning a million dollars, I’d tune in to see big Ed’s head detonate.

  4. The answer is obviously yes, he will win. But I prefer nines way of promoting million dollar winners.

Seven just gave away the outcome, which is almost like giving away the winner of survivor, before the episode airs.

  5. It might be third time lucky for this show, with two previous contestants having gone close. I remember Jeff Tarr, I knew his question simply by process of elimination and when he said Matt Damon I was like, “No!!”.

Martin Flood will surely be watching this and his crown will be taken if the Million Dollar Question is answered correctly.
