Origin triggers Nine repeats

Nine will air repeat episodes of Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory and The Mentalist in the week of the next State of Origin game.

Nine will air repeat episodes of Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory and The Mentalist in the week of the next State of Origin game.

Last week it ran a repeat of The Mentalist on Monday night, confusing some viewers.

No doubt the network knows it will win the week, so it isn’t about to “waste” new episodes of top-rating shows.

The repeats are set for Monday June 14th.

Nine will also air a special 30 Years of Origin at 10:30pm Tuesday June 15th in Sydney and Brisbane.

The second State of Origin game for the year will air June 16th.

  1. All this shows is a serious lack of alternate viewing options.

Given Nine’s big success in the last two years has been with sitcoms why have they not thought about producing one of their own?

I know that is a radical idea – to produce Australian comedy, but it may be worth a go.

  2. FYI there are 23 The Mentalist eps this season, so 2 new ones left for Nine to air.

So in a few week will it be wall-to-wall re-runs on Nine Monday nights or will they give something else a try?

  3. Note that Nine has expended all its Two and a Half Men episodes. It would also only have 1 Mentalist left and 2 Big Bang Theory episodes left over from the new season at the end of the new week. It will be repeats from there on until September/October.

  4. Nine have already played all the new eps of Two & A Half Men, so they had no choice but to go into repeats for that show. Playing repeats mixed with first runs only annoys and confuses viewers (looked what happened with the all new Top Gear on Tuesday), they only have 3 new eps of Big Bang Theory and 2 new eps of The Mentalist left, so they should have just played them out.
