Peter Mitchell to take 6 weeks leave

Seven News Melbourne newsreader Peter Mitchell will be taking 6 weeks long service leave as Jennifer Keyte takes the chair.

Seven News Melbourne newsreader Peter Mitchell will be taking 6 weeks long service leave from Monday, his 50th birthday.

Taking his place will be Jennifer Keyte, with Rebecca Maddern to read weekend bulletins.

Nine News Melbourne recently confirmed Tony Jones will be fronting 2 weeks as anchor when Peter Hitchener has two weeks holiday with Jo Hall remaining on weekends.

Mitchell joined Seven News as weekend presenter in 1988 and became weeknight anchor in 2000.

  1. Wouldn’t you call this Nine’s old arrogance? It seems Seven has become complacent, whilst Nine seems to constantly be trying to improve its news and find better stories. It seems seven now have the “Maintain the arrogance” sticker all over their news rooms lol

  2. Good to see 7 giving a woman the chair. I enjoy watching Peter Mitchell. he and Sandy Roberts work well and I enjoy the banter. But I enjoy Jennifer reading the news on the weekend so it will be good during the week.

  3. it’s a shame we don’t see or hear more of pete and jen together as a team much. whenever we do like at the logies,good friday, on radio they are a real hoot.

  4. Peter and Jen were at 3AW studio this morning speaking to Neil Mitchell. It was quite a funny chat. Peter said he would take his family to Europe where he would play golf and visit the British Open at St Andrews. Lucky for them.
