Returning: Packed to the Rafters

As expected Packed to the Rafters is returning to Tuesdays, kicking off with a double episode.

As expected Packed to the Rafters is returning on Tuesday June 29th at 8:30pm on Seven.

It kicks off with a double episode “The Blank Page” and “Saturday Night, Sunday Morning.”

Australia’s favourite family return in a special two hour new season premiere. As Julie recovers in hospital after the birth of baby Ruby, she reflects on how simple Ruby’s life is at the moment, while her adult children juggle the complexities of theirs. Meanwhile, Dave joins the modern world of Facebook and Carbo becomes a YouTube sensation.

Seven also plays the last two eps from last year at 12pm next Tuesday arvo.

The show will surely give Seven a much-needed lift for the second half of the TV year.

  1. About time too.Apart from ABC’S Rick Steiner and his food program the last few months amongst many other things there has been nothing remotely family friendly in the same time slot for six months now.I hope they do not do anything stupid like fill the screens with Medical Dramas once this season of Rafters ends.

  2. Awesome news. Finally some good quality drama back on our screens. Apart from The Circuit and City Homicide there isnt many good quality drama’s around. UB is s**t, Sea Patrol is lame and those weekly drama’s dont cut it anymore.

Also any word on what will follow it when it reverts back to the single hour. Rumour has it that it will be Parenthood. Any truth to that?

  3. @ Craig. I think they made 24 eps, so therefore they can start and finish the year with double eps and finish in the last week of the ratings year.

  4. Kirk, I’m not sure if you’re referring to a different show. No chemistry on PTTR? Gee, you’re a hard marker! The success of the show is partly due to the chemistry of the cast.

  5. A note to Victorian viewers: the EJ Whitten Legends Game (which caused last year’s season premiere to be delayed a week in Melbourne) is on July 6 this year. So you won’t start off a week behind again, but you may fall behind a week later.

  6. I don’t think it will all be about the baby. Outrageous Fortune (kiwi’s version of PttR) had a baby at the end of season 3, and she has not been any more important to the story than any of the other characters

  7. @Dine – Don’t forget top local drama on ABC like ‘Bed of Roses’.

I’m amazed they waited so long to get the Raters back on TV, more amazed they are launching with a double ep, potentially wasting one weeks worth of ratings.

  8. Finally we will have a decent aussie drama on air. So far this year we have had nothing but trash with Home and Away, Underbelly and Sea Patrol (particularly terrible) infesting our screens.

  9. best news all day! not too sure about having to deal with a baby on the show. desperate housewives kind of just fastforwarded through that! oh wait, lynettes is having a kid. urghhh
