Seven News Brisbane boss Rob Raschke on drink driving charge

Channel Seven's Brisbane News Director Robert Raschke appeared in a Brisbane Court today to face a drink driving charge.

Channel Seven’s Brisbane News Director Robert Raschke appeared in a Brisbane Court today to face a drink driving charge.

He was caught driving on Milton Road in the inner suburb of Auchenflower on May 23rd.

According to court records he was charged as ‘over general but under high limit.’

Seven Brisbane managing director Max Walters told TV Tonight, “Rob is mortified by what’s happened. Whilst he can’t say anything because the matter is before the court, he will be pleading guilty.

“Rob is highly regarded by the network and we are satisfied this is an isolated instance, which won’t be repeated.”

Raschke was today the subject of a media report in The Australian which speculated he could move to Sydney to take the Seven News role from Peter Meakin, but it has been denied by the network.

Meakin was convicted on drink driving after an incident in 2006.

Seven Chairman Kerry Stokes is said to be unhappy with dents to the network’s News reputation following stories on SA Premier Mike Rann and NSW Parliamentarian David Campbell.

Raschke will appear in the Brisbane Magistrate’s Court on June 25th.
