Skye eliminated from MasterChef

One of the Favourites has been cut from the MasterChef contest.

Skye Craig has been cut from the MasterChef contest.

The 35 year old Queensland Art Director was considered one of the Favourites to take out the competition.

But she named a spice incorrectly in a challenge against Jonathan.

While he correctly named Cloves, Skye opted for Garam Masala.

The mistake cost her a place in the competition.

The first round saw contestants reproducing a chicken korma curry, with the two least impressive contestants going through to a ‘name that spice’ round.

“I’m extremely disappointed because I really felt I was just getting to the point where I was comfortable with high end cooking,” she says. “My goal was to make the Top 10 – and I just missed out. I had more to offer I think, and I was just starting to come into my own.

“It was not a good day for me to be in a taste test. I was starting to get sick with the flu and my taste buds were out.

“I was really concerned about going into the second round against Jonathan because he’s extremely technical,” admits Skye, who named a spice as garam masala when it was cloves. “I was right to be worried.”

  1. i dont think the show is rigged but i do think that the judges have there faveourites Marion is definatly one and i am pretty sure Skye was another i hope they do have a wildcard and Skye gets back in i wish Alvin would go back to the chipmunks he is irritating

  2. It’s a shame when a contestant who makes few mistakes is tossed out of the show.

Skye’s (as part of her team), Popcorn Dessert was the only thing the Judges liked, and on this challenge she was the only one who used saffron (which was an ingredient). The other dishes were flawed more, yet overuse of Saffron brought her down, Aaron made a paste, Joanne served up a yoghurt dish (that looked like Lassi Drink) and both survived (odd).

Even during the Oyster Terrine, Skye’s only fault was crunchy Onions, so she has adapted to other dishes well (apart from Desserts), where as others have not so much.

However I guess that’s the nature of the beast and identifying Hebs and Spices is more important than progressing, being adaptive and learning well.

  3. Interesting, Skye was never one of my favourites and I found her style quite wishy-washy (the fact her hair was always all over the place was quite off-putting as well)

@ Daniel, first of all – paragraphs dude! Secondly if you think that is rigged after all the drooling the judges have been doing all over Skye you are a little bit misguided.

I am warming more and more to Jonathan and I especially love the fact he gave up shaving after like his 2nd elimination round ha ha.

  4. I will be very surprised if they do wildcards again- there was a massive backlash against it last year which I don’t think the producers will risk again.
