St Kilda-Geelong live

Seven will show the St Kilda-Geelong AFL match live this Friday night in Melbourne.

Seven will show the St Kilda-Geelong AFL match live this Friday night in Melbourne.

“We remain committed to our popular Friday night line-up,” Seven Melbourne boss Lewis Martin told the Sunday Herald sun.

“That said, we also are flexible enough to be able to make a switch to the footy when we get big matches like this.”

It will be the second time this year the network has aired a live Friday AFL match in Melbourne.

Better Homes and Gardens shifts to 7:30pm Thursday.

  1. This is a opportunity for Channel 7 to suck up to the AFL with the upcoming TV rights deals.I must admit i can’t recall the last three years or so Channel 7 have had it they have gone Live on Friday nights mmmm interesting.Go Cats!

  2. but it’s still not live or on at a decent hour in brisbane or sydney or perth. the gold coast are coming in next year and they will be getting a few friday night games and i bet they won’t showing those games live either.

  3. Hey Ch.7, how about cutting footy fans north of the border a break by showing Friday night footy live here, or at least at a reasonable hour. Friday night last the game went to air at 11.15pm. Next Friday my EPG has the St. Kilda V. Geelong game going to air at 11.30pm and finishing after 2am.

  4. i highly doubt this has anything to do with Thursday ratings. the Vicar of dibley rates pretty well in Melbourne, maybe better than BH&G can on short notice. it the 8:30+ comedies that make 7’s Thursday tank.

  5. There is already a promo for this match tonight during an ad break for Seven News.
And the match is already scheduled to be shown live in Tasmania and Darwin on Southern Cross Television.

  6. Hello, we like footy here in Adelaide too, especially when its shown live. You’d think with the massive problems Seven have Thursday they’d switch BH&G there permanantly and show footy at 7.30 Friday. Sure it still might not be live in Adelaide & Perth but at least it would be shorter delay. And i’d think it would help Sydney/Brisbane numbers for BH&G too cos it wouldn’t be up against live NRL on Nine.

  7. Why not do the same in the other AFL states 7? You’d pick up more footy viewers with an earlier start time and you’ll still get your normal Homes and Gardens viewers on the Thursday nights. It’s a win for all, so what is the problem 7 ???

  8. I’ve been thinking for ages that Better Homes & Gardens should be tried on thursday nights. I know after MC finishes at 8 I find there isn’t much on. Ive lost interest in Getaway. Good call 7, the match shown live should be a real winner.

  9. Wow, this is a big move by Seven and the AFL. Considering the match is at the MCG and not likely to be a sell out. If this game is anything like the last two matches these two teams have played it will be an absolute classic. From my name it’s obvious who I’m going for!

  10. Already bought tickets to go and see this, but thanks anyway Seven! How about we move BH&G to Sat night, or something, and always screen Friday night AFL live in Melbourne / Adelaide / Perth.
