Supernatural gets very animated

Japanese anime studio Madhouse will produce Supernatural: The Animation.

‘Sam and Dean Winchester’ are about to get even more animated with news that Japanese anime studio Madhouse will produce Supernatural: The Animation.

It is believed to be the world’s first animated project from a Japanese anime studio based on a popular overseas drama series.

The 22-episodes will cover the storyline of the first two years of the live-action series. However, while some episodes will remake episodes from the original series, other stories will be brand new, and include, “prologues of the Winchester brothers’ childhood, anime-only enemies, and episodes featuring secondary characters from the live-action version.”

Supernatural
creator Eric Kripke is credited as the anime project’s creator.

So far it is only set for DVD in Japan on January 12th with the first two episodes but would be a good candidate for a wider release.

Whether it eventually winds up on television remains to be seen…

  1. sounds interesting` strokes invisible beard. i dont think yaoi is the case. after all eric is wroknig on it to… unless i read it wrong.

Agreed to the part where everyone is wondering when the Hell is supernatural coming back!!!!

  2. Agree with RichoTB. As soon as I heard the words Supernatural and Yaoi together I instantly thought “hardcore supernatural fangirl”.

Sometimes I wonder if Ten f*** around with the scheduling of the show just to p*** the crazy fangirls off =]

  3. The previous 2 commenters are a good reason why the majority of Supernatural’s fanbase are reknown for being weird, creepy and prepubescent. Ruins it for the viewers who appreciate the actual storyline of the show, rather than the “hunky looks” of the 2 male leads.

Wincest? Seriously? The show mocked people like you in multiple episodes. Becky, anyone?

  4. Sounds like a prime candidate for a yaoi make-over.

Will be interesting to see these animated episodes, but it would be far more interesting to see the remainder of season 5 on channel 10!
