Airdate: 2010 ARIA Awards

FremantleMedia gives the ARIAs a live Idol-makeover for TEN at the Sydney Opera House this November.

FremantleMedia will produce the 2010 ARIA Awards for Network TEN, to be staged at the Sydney Opera House.

To be screened live at 7:30pm on Sunday November 7th, the event will include Idol-like presentations and performances in both the Concert Hall and the Forecourt.

The event promises eleven Awards and six performances. MTV will air the MTV at the ARIA Red Carpet earlier.

For the first time ever, ARIA is also introducing four yet-to-be-revealed Public Voted Awards..

FMA CEO, Ian Hogg, says “We are very proud to be working with ARIA and Network TEN to bring this exciting music event to Australian audiences. Our production team is in a unique position to deliver a quality broadcast that will capture all the excitement and emotion of this spectacular night.”

TEN’s Chief Programming Officer, David Mott, says “I can assure you, with powerhouse production company FremantleMedia, we are well underway in the planning stages to create a television spectacle you’ve come to expect from TEN.”

The return to TEN follows just a single year with the Nine Network, originally promised to partner ARIA with GO! But the presentation with actors Kate Ritchie and Gyton Grantley failed to excite, despite the coup of having Robbie Williams.

The ARIAs, which was for many years earlier produced by Roving Enterprises, also exits the PBL-owned Acer Arena for its switch to the Sydney Opera House.

  1. Sydney opera house? Sunday? wasn’t the reason ten dumped it in the first place because it was too expensive and no one watched? when 9 did it on the cheap on a thursday it didn’t really matter as much if it flopped. while i do congratulate them for taking a risk it is a rather longshot that it will pay off. and the money could do well elsewhere. there has been decreasing interest every year no matter what network, and this year Australian music has not been any better.

7 and 9 will be able to take a good breath that night.
