If you were taken by the Danish drama Unit One, then get ready for a new drama coming to SBS next month.

The series follows the work and personal life of Anna Pihl, a policewoman at the Bellahøj police station in Copenhagen. She is divorced, and lives with her son, Mikkel, in a flat shared with Jan, her gay male friend.

Who says foreign language content doesn’t get primetime anymore? This series is in Danish with English subtitles.

Anna Pihl is a rookie at Bellahøj Police Station in Copenhagen. She turns up for her first day in one of the busiest, most densely populated constabularies in the county and it turns out to be anything but your usual dull Monday. Anna did her training in the provinces so she is unfamiliar with Copenhagen, its many districts, or the various segments of the population. The day is not made any easier when she has to take her little boy along to the police station.

On her first beat she gets involved in a domestic and finds herself in a fight that sends two men to casualty. Was it Anna’s fault? Did she overreact? Or could the whole business have been avoided? The case doesn’t end there and soon our new city cop has more on her plate than she ever imagined. The consequences prove serious.

As Anna struggles to balance her new life as a city cop with her personal life, she comes across very different cases that will test her detective skills.

It starts Wednesday, 11 August at 8.30pm on SBS ONE.
