Airdate: Hot in Cleveland

Just days after asking "where is it?", Nine has slated Hot in Cleveland which features Betty White.

Just days after TV Tonight asked “where is it?”, Nine has now slated Hot in Cleveland which features Betty White.

The sitcom will air at 8pm Monday July 26th in place of The Big Bang Theory.

Betty White, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and Valerie Bertinelli star in a brand new comedy about three best friends from LA who find their lives changed forever when their plane – headed for Paris – makes an emergency landing in Cleveland. When they discover that they are hot in Cleveland, they decide to stay! Starting over, they rent a house that happens to come with one very feisty caretaker.

Nine had promised the series would be Fastracked. It will now air just under 6 weeks after its US premiere.

Hot In Cleveland, the outrageously funny new sitcom about three middle-aged women starting over, makes its Australian television premiere on Monday, July 26, at 8.00pm on Channel Nine.

Hot In Cleveland stars television legend Betty White (The Golden Girls), Valerie Bertinelli (Touched By An Angel), Jane Leeves (Frasier) and Wendie Malick (Just Shoot Me). The executive producer of the hilarious sitcom is Emmy Award winner Sean Hayes (Will and Grace).

Three best friends from Los Angeles – hopeless romantic Melanie (Bertinelli), cynical businesswoman Joy (Leeves) and ageing actress Victoria (Malick) – find their lives changed forever when their plane bound for Paris makes an unexpected landing in Cleveland.

Realising the social norms of LA no longer apply here, they decide to celebrate a city that values “real women” and stay where they’re considered hot. Starting over, the three women find themselves living under one roof and battling the sassy caretaker of the property they rent (White).

The series features well known guest stars including Wayne Knight (Seinfeld), Huey Lewis (Duets), Susan Lucci (All My Children), Carl Reiner (The Dick Van Dyke Show) and John Schneider (The Dukes of Hazard).

Hot In Cleveland was recently given the green light for a 20-episode second season which will also screen on Nine, early next year.

  1. ross@ – no it’s 16:9 but presented in 4:3 on TV Land in the US, so should be in widescreen format on Nine.

    Secret Squïrrel@ – I hope I am wrong.

I agree the pilot is not as good as the next few eps, I think the show is an acquired taste but Nine is not known to have much patients when it comes to new shows.

BTW anyone else see the ads last night on Nine, during Sea Patrol I think. Not sure if they has a date (which we now know) or just coming soon.

  2. I am looking forward to this. I know it is being called a golden Girls remake but it has a strong cast and with Betty White onboard it should work.

It has to be better than 2.5 Men and Modern Family, God aweful tripe that they are !

  3. Despite an impressive set of names, i am not sure if the whole is as good as the sum of its parts. Like Modern Family, which took me a few eps to be really impressed, this may take some time to find its rhythm. There’s something odd about these 4 – they don’t look like they hang together – that’s purely my take right now. I do recall sitting and watching Golden Girls first ep in 1986 – that was an instant classic – they only come along once a decade! Time will tell.

  4. Interesting to see if it rates, as shows from Not one of the major US networks rearly do here. But Betty White is Hot at the mo, so you never know.

  5. This is one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in years. The cast are fantastic, it has the wit of Will & Grace, and the feel of a younger Golden Girls. The set even looks similar to the Golden Girls. Up to ep 5 in the US, very very funny. Go Betty!

  6. Wow, so this site asks where it is and then suddenly Ch 9 decide to air it.

    What an ‘amazing’ coincidence.

All I can say is ‘all power to TV Tonight’!
