Monday night’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival Annual Great Debate will tackle whether Food is better than Sex.

Teams include Paul McDermott, Arj Barker, Fiona O’Loughlin, Cal Wilson, Russell Kane and Greg Behrendt, with Corrine Grant as Moderator.

We love food, we love it so much that millions of us are not only happy eating it, we’re also watching it with relish… and a nice crusty baguette. We love watching it being prepared, watching it cook, watching it served up on a platter, and even watching other people eat it – all from the comfort of our sofas on TV sets across the country.

Is food rivalling the popularity of sex? Could food be the new porn?

Would we rather eat a date, than go on one? Food may be the cake, but is sex the icing on top? Would Tiger Woods be better off if he’d spent his time with a different kind of saucy dish? Do we want sex symbols of chef symbols? Is it possible that food is, in fact, better than sex?!

To address this sizzling topic we combined some of the world’s finest comedy minds, whipped up a saucy blend of comedy and hijinx, taking us from the kitchen to the bedroom and various rooms in between (!) and served it up infront of thousands of hungry entertainment fans in the Melbourne Town Hall at the crème de la crème event of the 2010 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the 21st Annual Great Debate – “That Food is Better than Sex.”

Good News Week host and Gold Logie nominee, Paul McDermott captains the affirmative team with American comic Arj Barker and popular Aussie comic and serial mum Fiona O’Loughlin.

To debate the negative, the team Captain is our fave New Zealander calling Australia home, TV host and stand-up comedienne Cal Wilson, aided by English comic Russell Kane and American stand-up comic and author of the bestseller “He’s Just Not That Into You” Greg Behrendt.

Keeping them all in check was the irrepressible and incorruptible Moderator, one of Australia’s favourite comediennes, writer and TV host, Corinne Grant.

This band of valiant competitors raided their comedy arsenals to fight their cause – which saw them throw everything at their opponents, from male strippers, to baked goods … along with a surprise homage to ratings juggernaut MasterChef.

It airs 8:30pm Monday on TEN.
