Airdate: Never Ending Stories

Ovation has a must-see for fans of soap operas, looking at everything from radio serials to Dallas and Neighbours.

Ovation may not be as readily available as before but it is still providing a platform of music, arts and more.

In August it screens the three part series Never Ending Stories, a 3 part history of the Soap Opera, from its birth on radio in the 1930s to the genre’s worldwide appear today.

It includes classic moments in soap history such as “Who Shot Jr” in Dallas as well as issues such as how Neighbours sold Melbourne to the British.

The series features soap footage from around the world with anecdotes from the industry.

It starts 7:30pm Thursday August 5th.

  1. Yeah I agree, Foxtel should have a soap channel.

I am still in shock from when W re-ran the camp classic Dynasty spin-off “The Colbys” a few years ago ….. even if they did quickly relegate it to 4am Sunday mornings.

I am still hoping they re-run “Flamingo Road” one day. Even “Emerald Point” and “The Yellow Rose” would be awesome.

I recently bought “Falcon Crest” Season 1 from Amazon.com in America, it was cheap and the quality was awesome.

Speaking of soaps I would love to see repeated. How about the Aussie classic “The Restless Years”

  2. Will definitely watch this , looks very interesting . has it been on sbs??
Would be great if Foxtel ran some of these never ending stories , the actual shows on Fox Classics or TV1 or somewhere else where they are suitable even a whole new channel . like Dallas , Falcon Crest , Dynasty , Knots Landing .

  3. I’d like to see that … but I don’t have pay tv any more because of their lousy customer service. Oh well, at least I know what I’m missing, lol.
