Anna Gare joins as Junior MasterChef judge

MasterChef finds its feminine side as TV chef Anna Gare is announced as a judge on Junior MasterChef.

A year after deciding its female host wasn’t needed for Celebrity MasterChef, TEN announces TV chef Anna Gare will be a judge on Junior MasterChef.

Gare is best known for the popular cooking series The Best of Australia and Quickies in My Kitchen on the LifeStyle Food Channel. She also managed Perth catering company Deluxe Catering with Food by Anna Gare.

She joins George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan and Matt Preston as a judge / mentor, with all 3 returning for Junior MasterChef.

“I’m thrilled and excited to be going onto such a hugely popular program. I’ve seen some of the junior kitchen superstars in action and there is some really amazing talent there! I can’t wait to get started,” she said.

Over 5,000 children from around the country applied to be on the series with 50 young cooks aged 8 -12yrs set to participate.

The junior version in the UK proved very successful and Shine Australia says the talent here is already staggering.

The series will air later this year.

  1. Donna Hay might have been one to expect artwork on a plate and somehting she could take a photo of. They might be impressive if they make A Mr. Potato head [George style], A sweet thing for Gary [he likes them], and a chocolate cravat for Matt. [An edible outfit]!

  2. I agree Bobby, If they don’t give the audience a rest then everyone will be sick of MC by the time MC series 3 comes around they’ll be “what went wrong?”

Wow I thought for sure that they were buttering up Donna Hay for this role.”

Yeah I thought that as well, given that Donna Hay has a kids cooking magazine.

  4. Do you think this is an attempt to lighten the tone of the show? I can’t see her being overly melodramatic and getting involved in the histrionics the other’s use.

    She’s a great choice.
