Craig Ferguson took to his opening monologue as a Koala puppet to hit back at the story started in the Daily Telegraph that Rove McManus would be his replacement for 6 weeks.
“I read on the intergoogle that Craig Ferguson, the Scottish Conan thing, is gonna be replaced by an Australian apparently. And whoop-de-do here I am,” he said.

@ Secret Squirrel & @tv addict, I thought he was making a self-referential joke?? Would love to see more of this show on FTA.
As a proud Australian it pains me to admit this but Comparing the comedic wit of Craig and Rove is like Comparing KAK to Ellen or Charlie(So far to the left he’s going in circles) Pickering to David Letterman,a complete no brainer and if it did happen he would be welcome here anytime.
Not sure why Gibsons getting a run but anyway.Born in the US of A,moved to Australia, became dual American/Australian citizen, made some movies, went back to the US of A,made some movies, went into total meltdown, dumped his longtime Australian wife, hitched up with a Russian, went into total meltdown number 2 or was it 3,went into rehab….and the saga continues.
When is Rove replacing him for that 6 weeks im off to the USA in August and wanted to go to a taping to see Craig not Rove
Channel 10, please please air this show after David Letterman!!
this man is hilarious!!! 🙂
@Craig: If he was, he would have been nationaliSed 🙂
@Dan: Drat. I wanted to make the annoying buzzer noise.
@TV addict: I thought so too but I didn’t think he would’ve had a high enough profile in the US. The reference was quite oblique and people in the audience apparently understood who was actually being talked about, so I was a bit bewildered.
I never got the whole Mel being an Aussie thing, was he ever nationalizes?
Channel 10! Please air this show!!!
Let’s not squabble about Mel being Australian – I’m happy to give him back to the States. Tool …
Dear network Ten executive people, please put this show on after Letterman and or on your 3rd digital channel whenever it goes to air.
go to bring back the late night legends on Facebook and join / like .
That Clip was hilarious!!! We need this show on Australian TV!!!!
Agreed, that TEN should add ‘The Late Late Show’ after Letterman.
Damn why doesn’t TEN get the rights to The Late Late Show, put him on after Letterman instead of the mostly re-runs or infomersials.
Ehhhhhh (Thats my game show buzz out noise) Wrong Francis… Mel Gibson is infact…. Canadian.. Moved here with his parents young… Grew Up here…. then moved to the US when his Movie Career took off.
No Francis, Mel Gibson was born in the U.S and moved to Australia at 12.
Mel Gibson was born in Peekskill, New York. He and his family movied to NSW, Australia when he was about 12 years old.
Yes Mel Gibson was born in australia but moved to USA at a young age and therefore he is australian
Mel Gibson isn’t australian?!?
Anyone else think he was talking about Kevin07 for a minute there?
Funny guy. He undoes the damage Billy Connelly does to his countries reputation 😉
