GO! look somewhere else

More disappointing scheduling from GO! leaves Chuck, Gossip Girl and Eastwick out in a dead zone and digital channels forget their agenda.

No easy way to say this…. GO! is really losing the plot.

It started with such currency from the audience and it is throwing it away.

The lastest amendments bump prime time first run episodes for movies, leaving only late night runs for frustrated fans.

Eastwick now only screens at 12:30am Wed (Tue night) replaced next week with Seinfeld and on July 13 with the moie Beauty Shop.

On Wed July 14 Chuck only screens at midnight, replaced by the movie When a Stranger Calls.

On Thursday July 15 Gossip Girl is repaced by Snakes on a Plane at 10:35pm.

If you really want to see these shows, perhaps GO! would prefer you sign up for Pay TV.

These digital channels were supposed to offer alternative viewing, but in the ratings battle they are increasingly being perceived by networks as a means to giving a network the edge of its rivals. The end result is that the commitment to unique programming diminishes while networks chase a short team spike.

Update: Eastwick now out Tue July 13, moved to also 12am Thu July 15 (Wed night). Good luck keeping track of it.

  1. I tried GO! when it was all shiny and new, but its appeal has faded very quickly for me. Gave up on Chuck after the first timeslot shift, much easier to watch it on DVD.
7TWO is doing a much better job than GO!. At least it is allowing shows to play ou to the end of the season/series (in most cases). A Touch of Frost, Rosemary & Thyme, Heartbeat. 7TWO must have shown more of the latter in the last six months than the primary channel ever did.

  2. To top it off, they have infomercials on between 2-4am, there are some of us still awake at that time who would like something to watch, GO used to be a good alternative to the infomercials on 7.9.10 and ancient movies on abc (i like old movies but not that old), great time of night if your into footy repeats though :/

  3. Going by my PVR TV Guide: Wednesday July 07th Closer is on at 10pm after the Bachelorette and at Midnight it is Total Wipeout UK and 1am Crash Course, so no Chuck at all (which I will lay odds on will continue to the following week).

  4. all i can say is that the only channels that are doing a better job than Go! is abc 2 and 3, sbs 1and 2, and 7two unlike Go! they do not change there programs around and have regular times and spots but Go! do not seems to care one bit to what they do and change time slots swap this with that and put so much crap on,,,,,,,what they need to do is have theam nights such as one night for reality shows then a night for sitcoms and a night for movies and do it in a alternative fashon,,,,,,something needs to be done soon as GO! will no longer have viewers and so much for the slogan more for me it should be more repeats and time changes for me,,,,,,

  5. I’ve lost all faith in watching tv. If I want a show I’ll just buy it, screw having to put up with constant changes, late startings and ever increasing amounts of ads. Tv networks can go to hell.

  6. Just goes to show more is not necessarily better. Between Foxtel and FTA I have something like 110 channels to choose from, and still there are times when there’s nothing worth watching.

Makes the classic Springsteen song ’57 Channels’ seem a tad out of date. Now what’s on the bookshelf.

  7. This has to be the most annoying/unorganised channel in history. I thought the execs at nine said that they would let things run its course on this channel. What the f**k is wrong with the idiots running nine/go.

  8. Go! to hell ratings warz….. We dislike and distrust FTA as it is, give the secondary channels some pull-factor ffs….

FTA is laying it’s own death bed. How nice.

  9. Shame! Shame! Shame! Go began with such promise. They promised original programming, but now all we get is Seinfeld, The Nanny, Just Shoot Me, and repeats of a heap of other shows that have already been repeated to death on 7,9,10 and Foxtel. If I have to watch Seinfeld one more time I am going to kill myself.

Do these networks believe Aussies only wanna watch the same old shows over and over and over and over and over and over again. Even The Big Bang Theory is starting to get boring … I totally love that show, but how many times can they repeat it ….I blame the government. They should have set very strict rules about how much original first run content must be shown in prime time on these channels.

It looks like it’s 7Two all the time for me now. I start my day with Sons & Daughters and Home & Away repeats and I settle down at night to watch what 7Two has to offer. There’s no point investing time in anything Go puts on, cause it will be yanked the week after. However, if Go started repeating The Restless Years every morning, then I might abandon S&D or H&A (but I think The Restless Years was on Ch10 anyway). Eastwick, Chuck and New Adventures Of Old Christine should have been left where they were.

  10. typical that this would happen to the only 3 shows I watch on GO! (already happened to terminator). if they are still on I will record them at whatever time, but what my EPG is saying right now makes me think that these changes are from next week too. eastwick is only on at midnight tue/wed and I can’t see chuck or gossipt girl (3 episodes left ffs) listed at all.

  11. J Bar, i totally agree with you, digital channels should be removed/separated from the ratings equation because its not fair for us fans. digital channels were supposed to give us more choice, not diluted stuff from the main channels.

GO is really losing the plot, but people its your fault for watching repeated seinfeld, big bang, top gear and movies and the more you keep watching the more of it your gonna see. i used to like big bang, but really, the fourth time round its just not funny anymore. and were gossip girl and chuck that much of a problem when they were already airing at 10:30???

GO, you have lost me, i’ll be sticking with the more respectable 7two.

  12. Just when I thought Go’s programming changes couldn’t get any worse!

If Eastwick is now at midnight Wednesday (technically Thursday), does that mean Chuck’s out completely?
