Great Debate: ABC1, ABC News 24

ABC News will broadcast the Leaders Debate in full on ABC1 and ABC News 24 nationally.

ABC’s details on the Great Debate are in. While SKY News political editor David Speers will moderate the debate, the panellists asking the questions will be political editor of ABC News 24 Chris Uhlmann, the political editor of The Australian Financial Review, Laura Tingle, and the national political editor of The Daily Telegraph, Malcolm Farr.

A coin will be tossed to determine who will make the first opening statement. Both leaders will have three minutes to make a closing statement.

On Sunday 25 July, ABC News will broadcast the Leaders Debate in full on ABC1 and ABC News 24 nationally.

A half hour of analysis will follow after the Debate on ABC1 in WA and the eastern states, and on-going on ABC News 24. The normal 7pm ABC News bulletin will follow in SA and NT.

For WA and the eastern states, programs previously scheduled on ABC1 from 7.30pm will move forward half an hour. eg. the premiere of David Attenborough’s new series Life will air at 8pm (not the previously promoted 7.30pm).

ABC News brings you the Debate live from the National Press Club, followed by Debate analysis.

Analysis, hosted by ABC News 24’s Afternoon Live presenter Ali Moore, will follow and include crosses to ABC News 24’s Political Editor Chris Uhlmann, ABC News Online’s Chief Politcial Writer Annabel Crabb, Insiders host and ABC journalist Barrie Cassidy and the ABC’s Election Analyst Antony Green.

Reaction from politicians, analysts and the public will also be featured.

Simulcast on ABC1 and ABC News 24 in eastern states and WA.

  1. Mr Abbott is not telling the truth – he does not tell the Australian people of his plans to slash thousands of public service jobs and while workchoices is supposed to be dead, buried and cremanted, he will more than likely bring it in by another name. The Liberals simply cannot be trusted.

  2. Would I be correct in saying that TEN isn’t showing the debate tonight? The guide has normal programming and their advertising (last night) said they would show Modern Family and Rules of Engagement.

  3. Should be interesting viewing, I’m expecting a toweling myself, but hoping for a good debate.
    Hey, as long as we don’t have to watch Gillard walking along looking like a duck with a 20kg egg stuck up her up her you know what, or have Abbott failing so bad at trying to be funny it almost is, I’ll listen with interest.
