Obama to visit The View

Barack Obama will become the first sitting U.S. president to appear on a daytime talk show when he fronts up to The View this week.

His interview will be shown in Australian on Friday, first on W and then on Nine.

The president’s appearance, part of the show’s continuing “Red, White & View” campaign, will also see Barbara Walters make her first in-studio return since she underwent heart valve replacement surgery in May. She has more recently only appeared via Skype.

“This shows that both the President and First Lady feel that our show is an influential and important source of information and news,” said Walters.

His appearance will touch on topics including his administration’s accomplishments, jobs, the economy, the Gulf oil spill, and family life inside the White House.

But will staunch Republican Elisabeth Hasselbeck be just as cheery about the visit?

It airs at 11am AEST on W and 1pm on Nine this Friday.

  1. Go Barack! I don’t really watch the View only sometimes and dont mind Elisabeth but when it comes to politics she really annoys me. It will be interesting to see what she asks. No doubt she will ask him all the negative things that are happening in the US. Im sure he will be able to defend himself.

I wonder how long she can last until she raises her voice. I still laugh when during the campaign when Sarah palin was saying all those stupid comments and Joy was just bagging her so much and Elisabeth was trying to defend Palin. She just ended up yelling at them all.
