Wizard of Oz on GO!

GO! has added The Wizard of Oz to its schedule on Friday night.

I don’t often give editorial space to movies, especially a repeat, but GO! has added The Wizard of Oz to its schedule tomorrow night.

As a family favourite it’s worth giving a heads up…

It will air at 7:30pm Friday July 16.

The movie Addicted to Love switches to 9:30pm which pushes two CSI episodes out.

GO! seems to love movies more than television these days. Its unique TV titles seem to be a long way over that rainbow.

  1. Rick 2, remember The Wizard of OZ was made in 1939 – long before widescreen. It was shot in the standard 4:3 ratio of the time and should always be shown that way, as was Gone With The Wind.

  2. i don’t have a problem with GO running movies, it actually does make an alternative to what’s on the main channels, but what’s more of a concern is the rapid programming changes being made at a moment’s notice. Snakes On A Plane was listed in The Age to appear tonight but it got dumped by GO at the last minute. So I don’t think fans of The Wizard Of Oz should get too excited – it could be placed by repeats of The Big Bang Theory by tomorrow night!

It is impossible to plan any viewing on GO anymore.

  3. they should have originally made GO a movie channel from the start, its obvious that they care more about movies then airing TV series without interruption or moving them around as much as Nine, I think they have been moving programs more then Nine now! this year so far, GO have aired at least 35 Premiere movies with more to come next week which is more then Ten, Nine & Seven put together I think!!

  4. They should never have given GO! that youthful, energetic feel if this is what they were going to do with it. I can now see why 7 opted for a more flexible multi-channel style.

  5. Wondeful choice of movie & my 2nd all time favorite behind Dead Poets Society. It’s cool how The Wizard Of Oz appeals to the modern generations as well ,part of this is how modern it actually looks and feels compared to say Gone With The Wind.

  6. Be nice to know if this will be a full 16:9 version for widescreen. Gone With The Wind on GO! was ruined because it was a 4:3 made for TV version.

I agree with the complaint about dumping CSI NY. It’s about the only first run GO! show that I record each week.

  7. They don’t show first run content because it doesn’t rate well because it’s crap. These rerun shows have usually been big hits at one time or another and they are much better.

  8. All networks have a lull at this time of year….while they await new shows/season from OS, go is no different. I like the 9:30 movies, not much else to watch at that time.

  9. I agree, GO used to be great (when it first started – watched it all the time) but is crap now. No consistency and crappy shows. Don’t forget, GO is owned by channel nine (Need I say more…….) – 21st century Television is all about money, not entertainment…

  10. a lot of changes to GO! in recent times. Seems like there’s a movie everyday @ 9:30pm. Nothing wrong with that as its a good break from all the half hour comedies being shown.

and yeah the first run content is limited at the moment (perhaps the reason for the movies now?)
