Airdate: Covert Affairs

Piper Perabo stars as a young CIA trainee who is thrust into the inner sanctum of the agency when she is unexpectedly promoted to field operative.

US spy series Covert Affairs begins on Seven soon.

The drama stars Piper Perabo as Annie Walker, a young CIA trainee who is thrust into the inner sanctum of the agency when she is unexpectedly promoted to field operative. While it appears that she has been plucked from obscurity for her exceptional linguistic skills, there may be something or someone from her past that her CIA bosses are really after.

The cast also features Christopher Gorman (Ugly Betty), Sendhil Ramamurthy (Heroes) and, in a recurring role, Peter Gallagher (The OC).

The series is produced by Doug Liman (Go, The Bourne Identity, The OC), David Bartis (The OC, Knight Rider) and Jonathan Glassner (Stargate SG-1).

Produced for the USA Network, it only premiered in the US in July where 4 episodes, including the Pilot, have aired.

It premieres 9:30pm Monday August 16.

  1. I’ve been told that after the first episode it gets more fast paced. Apparently it gets better as it goes on. I love Alias so if this is anything like it then i am tuning in.

  2. Does anyone know the name of the song in the comercail for this?? I’ve heard it once before in a comercial for the new melrose place epsiode “wilshire” that aired in April 2010. And now I’ve heard it again for his show and I really like it:) please is anyone knows it please tell me! I’m addicted;)

  3. Looks like Monday nights is going to be busy for me again.

Piper Perabo plays Annie Walker. There is a Sarah Walker in Chuck.

Guess Walkers are common in spy series.

Christopher Gorham by the way has previous experience in a spy series as the title character Jake 2.0.

  4. It tries way too hard. The blind guy, especially, is trying to tick several boxes all at once. It has time to find its feet, but the characters and situations are just too carefully set up to be a “TV show premise” to me.

  5. Agreeance with Knowfirst our household and our friends households were very pleasantly surprised with Covert Affairs, but as Knowy said we haven’t seen it yet . 😉

As much as I hate to admit it, the US is putting out reasonably good, bordering on excellent, programming, Covert Affairs, The Gates (sort of an adullts version of The Vampire Diaries), Human Target, Haven, Eureka, Warehouse 13, not quite as good a the stuff put out by UK drama/crime/fantasy/supernatural producers but getting there, slowly, ever so slowly.

Sadly, the US swill dished up by our commercial networks is sadly lacking in entertainment value

  6. Yeah the pilot is some 65 mins long without ads. I guess it will run over at least 90 minutes until about 11pm.

very quick turn around from ‘sneak peek’ to air date, just hope they promote it as I liked the pilot and can’t wait to see more.

  7. Watched the first 10 mins, but wasn’t in the mood to get into a new show that nght. It seems like it could be good. I wonder if Seven will edit the pilot, as it was longer than the normal 42 mins.

  8. the promo for this is very good, but apprantly it is very slow moving. i’ll watch.

wasn’t expecting that timeslot with CM repeats doing so well. i touht maybe Sunday starting after th DWTS finale. or Wednesday 9:30 where there isn’t much scheduled.
