Airdate: The Big Report

The Weather Channel hopes to set the world’s largest interactive weather report with over 261 schools to measure the temperature in their playground.

Next Wednesday August 18th, The Weather Channel will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest interactive weather report as part of National Science Week.

For the record to be broken, over 261 schools will need to measure the temperature in their playground at midday AEST on August 18. The current record was set by the BBC in March this year.

The information will form The Big Report, to air on The Weather Channel at 6pm AEST that evening.

“The response from schools to help with the record attempt has been fantastic,” said The Weather Channel’s Senior Meteorologist Dick Whitaker.

“We’ve had schools sign up from all across Australia from Braeside Primary in Katanning, Western Australia and Araluen Christian College in Alice Springs to Tagai State College in the Torres Strait and Lindisfarne Primary in Tasmania.”

“The Weather Channel has always been proud of our relationships with schools and communities, and so regardless of whether we actually break the record or not, it’s been a great way of getting closer to our audience on a local level.”
