Grimshaw to interview leaders

Tracy Grimshaw will interview both Labor and Liberal leaders across two nights on A Current Affair.

With an ad blackout now in force, the two leaders vying for the top job turn their attention to TV interviews.

PM Julia Gillard will be interviewed by Tracy Grimshaw on A Current Affair tonight. Tomorrow night Opposition Leader Tony Abbott takes his turn.

On Saturday both will join Leila McKinnon and Cameron Williams in studio on Weekend Today from 7.00am.

The two leaders will present their final pitches to the nation in an attempt to sway the opinion of the undecided voters.

Nine’s election coverage will resume at 5.00pm on Saturday in Election 2010: Australia Decides.

  1. I’m with you Chris – it was a quality segment. It will be Interesting to see Leila and Cam interview them again tomorrow morning. It will be a slightly different take i’d suggest!

  2. @Nick. Totally agree with you there. I like the fact that Abbott keeps talking about cutting taxes, yet has never revealed from what of the four traditional areas of Health, Education, Infrastructure or Social Security the money will come from.
Hope Tracey nails him to the wall about using a no name accounting firm for its costings and whay he does not want to debate the economy.
    I can see him now,”Aahhh… That’s a tough one Tracey… Aahhh… I’m not an economist… Aahhh… Lets’s talk about boat people instead”.

  3. Hopefully tough questions will be asked, I trust Tracy but not ACA. If Abbott wins, it will purely be due to the ineptitude of the Australian media. People are getting their information from ads. There is no analysis on commercial TV. No one calling Abbott on the complete and utter crap he has been spouting like debt, tax and boat people crises which simply don’t exist.

  4. I hope Tracey asks some heavy weight questions, not lightweight questions and allowing the guests to simply spout off policy – but to hold their feet to the flames and demand they answer the questions asked.

Come on Tracey, you’re better than ACA!!!!

  5. Good stuff, should be an interesting watch. But the opposition leader does seem to have the short end of the stick, given there is a much lower viewing audience on Friday nights.

  6. Looks like Channel Nine has the best election coverage over the next few days. I think ACA tonight and tomorrow night will be entirely devoted to the interviews and it’s highly unlikely that Today Tonight will do this. Also, Weekend Today should be interesting to watch with the two leaders in the studio.

I know that most people are probably sick of all these multiple interviews with the two leaders, but for someone like me who hasn’t voted before and who still hasn’t made up their mind on who they are going to vote for, I am still interested in this campaign and I will definitely continue to watch.
