HBO confirms Entourage to end

HBO confirms the ending that Producer Mark Wahlberg mentioned in June. Plus a little news on Curb Your Enthusiasm and The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency.

It’s official. Entourage is ending after its 8th season.

The word from HBO follows Producer Mark Wahlberg talking about its future in June. But it may yet get that feature film.

“The plan right now is we’ll finish up this season, we’ll do a shorter order for next season, we’ve talked about six,” said Michael Lombardo, HBO programming president.

“[Creator Doug Ellin] is appropriately reserving — he wants to write a film, but wants to do it when the story will make sense. He’s pitched other shows to us. I will expect that within the next couple years [he’ll have another show on HBO]. But Entourage next summer will definitely be the final season.”

Season 7 is currently airing in the US with 10 episodes.

“We’re going to have six episodes next year and end with a bang and then in the trailer you see (Ari Gold and his associate, Lloyd) waking up together in Vegas not knowing what happened,” Wahlberg previously said.

In other HBO news, Lombardo also said there is no end in sight for Curb Your Enthusiasm and The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency may have a movie or two but is finished as a series.

  1. Thank goodness we have HBO and while it will be sad to see entourage end i’m glad it hasn’t / didn’t jump the shark and will go out with it’s head held high.
What a great ride its been.

  2. Season 6 was definately a bit meh but Season 7 has been great; Season 6 kinda sidelined Vincent Chase to a supporting role and the rest of the crew stepped up to get a story told; but that said the show is about a famous movie star and there wasn’t enough of that in Season 6; so far Season 7 has perfected that balance?

I can’t find anywhere though David that confirm Season 7 is 10 episodes. I was reading an interview with Kevin Connolly who stated that Season 8 would be the last and Entourage would have made a total of 98 episodes; meaning next Season either consists of 10 episodes which I haven’t heard anything about or this season is a 14 episode season; which I have had thrown around, but who knows.

I’ll be sad to see Entourage go; it has been such a fun show; definately up there with my favourite shows ever.

  3. Always a bit disappointed when a HBO series ends because they’re such good quality shows. On the other hand, it’s always a bit exciting to see what they greenlight next.

  4. This news is months old. Not having a go at the site hear, I have seen in across the web in the last few days. However I read about this quite a few months back. Everything from the 6 episodes last year, to the movie.

We should be hearing some news on the new curb season soon. Should be gearing up to shoot in the next few months. The good thing with that show is, Larry only makes a season when he wants to, keeps the quality up.

Entourage has floundered a bit. As someone once said, Entourage used to be a Sex and the City for Guys. Now it’s just Sex and the City with Guys. I still like it though, last season was a bit.. eh who cares. It’s still one of the better shows on tv though.
