Q & A: Aug 23

Updated: Mark Arbib, Labor Senator for NSW, is no longer appearing.

You can just imagine the scrambling that went on to lock in tonight’s guests for Q & A.

After the vote results sent the spotlight towards Independents and Greens, the panel was no doubt in a hurry to reflect the political limbo.

They have managed to get Tony Windsor, one of the three Independent MPs (all three of whom featured on a surprise 7:30 Report last night).

Here is the line-up:

Tony Windsor, Independent Federal Member for New England and one of the Independent MPs who can break the deadlock in our new parliament;
Sarah Hanson-Young, Australian Greens Senator for South Australia,
Malcolm Turbull, Former Opposition Leader and Federal Member for Wentworth;
Graham Richardson, lobbyist and former Labor minister;
Janet Albrechtsen, columnist with The Australian.

UPDATED: Mark Arbib, Labor Senator for NSW no longer appearing.

It airs tonight at 9.35pm on ABC1.

  1. Nah you were right DF. Poor form by Arbib and Gillard. She’s trying to convince the Independents and the public she deserves the right to govern, but she won’t allow us to question her party members. Where’s the accountability, where’s the responsible government, . Not a good move at all.

  2. Apparently Julia has withdrawn Mark Arbib from appearing on Q & A this is according to the ABC because now is not the time to talk in the hope of securing support with the 3 independants in particular.

  3. Is Richo on retainer for this show? He seems to be on every other week. Why have a lobbyist? Being a former minister 20 years ago doesn’t make him the ‘expert’ on contemporary politics. Or is he here to defend Arbib, as he did with Penny Wong a couple of weeks ago?
