If their ratings were anything like we saw last time, Sunday nights are about to heat up next month.
Midsomer Murders is back with a new series from early September.
But this will be the final series for DCI Tom Barnaby (John Nettles), who leaves after 82 episodes.
Actor Neil Dudgeon will take over the lead role in series 14 of Midsomer Murders as DCI John Barnaby, a cousin of Tom Barnaby who is also in the police force. John Barnaby is first seen in episode 2 of this current series -The Sword of Guillaume.
In the first episode, The Made to Measure Murders, it is the anniversary of the death of the head of a family bespoke tailoring business and surviving members of the family seem overburdened by grief — or is it guilt?
When the widow seeks absolution both she and her confessor, the vicar of this feudal parish, are both struck down and Barnaby (John Nettles) discovers that one guilty secret leads to another, with escalating fatal consequences.
ABC1 will screen episodes 1 – 4 beginning at 8.30pm from Sunday, September 5th.
Episodes 5 – 8 of series 13 will be seen at a later date.

Midsummer will never be the same without Barnaby. Hope they can coax him back. Midsummer was my very facorite show.

We love John Nettles too – it’s his slow smooth movements in the series which win fans over! Sunday evening will never be the same when he retires.
Yay!!! Finally new episodes!!!!
Can’t wait for these.
I love John Nettles. 🙂
Midsomer is doing very well for the ABC and UKTV its just a shame John Nettles (Tom Barnaby) is finishing.
oi don’t “yawn” Barnaby! but showing them out of order for reasons unknown is pretty lame.
