Star Trek: DS9 on GO!

GO! has added replays of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine to its schedule in late night screenings.

Here’s one for Trekkies…

GO! has added Star Trek: Deep Space Nine to its schedule, which began late night screenings last night.

Episode 3, all the way from the time warp of 1993, aired at midnight.

If you’re wondering about Eps 1 and 2, they already played, buried somewhere in the Daytime schedule and the space-time continuum.

  1. I think that the second season was nearly as poor as the first one, and it only started getting better with the third. Seasons four and five were among the best seasons of any Star Trek series. And whoever that is that thinks DS9 was the worst of the four modern series needs their head examined. Heard of Enterprise? And Voyager was also nearly as bad (as Enterprise).

  2. Next on Jeopardy:

“The answer is: daytime and midnight”.

“What are the two timeslots that I have no desire or ability to watch TV during?”

DS9 was a great series but I think I’ll go bite the bullet and pick up the DVDs instead.

  3. Nice promos, GO!… Would never have known this was on and probably stumbled upon it in a TV guide (if not this article). And typically for the Nine network, Star Trek is stuck late into the night… nothing has changed there.

Like others have said, DS9 (like TNG) got better after its second season. Give it a chance.

  4. Will be looking forward to the “classic Deep Space Nine-Star Trek: The Original Series-Trouble With Tribbles crossover episode ” (Sheldon Cooper TBBT)

  5. @ brisvegas – yeh the first season is ok but it gets much better. The same thing happened with TNG not that great in it’s first two seasons but taking off in season 3.

  6. omigod omigod omigod omigod omigod omigod.

To all the non DS9 people (of which there are many)………this show Really kicks off after the 2nd season. It’s pretty lame up until that point.

So So tempted to rattle on about what a great show this is, but I’ll put on my spock ears some other time.

All i’ll say is i’m frothing at the mouth with the thought of watching the defiant carve its way through jem hadar/cardassians ships on my big tv, and not the portable telly I first watched them on.

  7. Advertising your change of schedule would help grab viable viewers.
Strange that GO! appears not to realise this commercial reality.
(Checked various EPGs & online resources last night when I found DS9 by accident)

  8. @ nick – i agree DS9 is a brilliant series and I rank it just below TOS and TNG and ahead of Voyager and Enterprise. This is a very welcome move by GO! And yes it has a dark edge that the other Treks didn’t have.

  9. It really hasn’t held up all that well over the years… Cheesy doesn’t begin to describe it. Mind you, STTNG wasn’t a whole lot better (witness alt.ensign.crusher.die.die.die)

It is nice to see a little SCI-FI back on the table however. It’s a much maligned and overlooked genre. (and it requires an IQ in 3 digit territory, unlike ‘Reality TV’)

  10. You can catch GO!’s original airings of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine on some weekday afternoons (generally Wednesdays or Fridays) at around 1pm. The late night airings are simple encores from the daytime airings.

  11. If you think putting an exclamation mark at the end of the heading will get people excited about DS9, I don’t think it will work. It’s below average. 🙂
