Suddenly… a Neighbours wedding

Wait a minute.... haven't we heard that wedding song before?

What would the week of Episode #6000 be without a wedding for Neighbours?

Tonight Ringo (Sam Clark) and Donna (Margot Robbie) tie the knot.

As the bride walks down the aisle a vocal track of the song “Suddenly” plays, sung by Sam Clark.

Longtime fans will remember it as the very same song used when Charlene (Kylie Minogue) married Scott Robinson (Jason Donovan).

Listen out for the cheeky line that Ringo uses in referencing the song.

Episode #6000 airs on Friday night when a bunch of characters all have reason to revenge Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis). “Who Pushed P.R?” is an el-cheapo riff on Dallas‘ “Who Shot J.R?”

  1. Yes a prety cool ACP nod, with the bride at the back of the ute. Especially considering Penny Cook who played Vicky, the original bride in the ute, was there playing Ringos mum.

  2. @ steve g and Rowie: I agree that EastEnders is one of the best soaps currently on air. But Neighbours can’t tackle even half of EastEnders juicy storylines as it airs in a strictly G-rated slot. It must air after 7pm to do storyline along the same line as EastEnders. EastEnders is rated PG on UKTV.

  3. Thanks Rowie, nice to have the back up.

Yes Donna has a brother and sister who were in it for a short time at the start of last year. It would have been good if they were brought back, and then there’s also Elle who was like a big sister to Donna. All these lost oportunities to have made the 6000th even more memorable.

  4. @ stevie g, I totally agree. EastEnders is by far the best of any soap around and I wish Neighbours had a producer who could make it as compelling as EE (although I’m waiting to see how Bryan Kirkwood goes as EP now). Neighbours has the potential to be amazing, it just needs the right person/people in charge.

  5. Have been watching this week and enjoying somewhat. But I do wish they brought more characters back for the wedding. Why couldn’t they get back Totti Goldsmith as Donna’s mother? She was a terrific tramp and would have added some colour to procededings The writers need to take some lessons from Eastenders, which has been going for just as long as Neighbours, but the characters and events in that show now, are as involving and memorable as it was back in the 80s.

  6. Excellent idea using the same song reminding viewers of the good days of Neighbours but if only the show was still just as good then maybe it would get just as many viewers tuning in for this wedding as it did the one back in ’88. One can only dream.

  7. Lol so we’ve gone from Angry Anderson to Sam Clarke? And a Dallas reference – most of the actors and viewers probably weren’t around in the 80s – mind you looks like the writers were! lol!! Why is this show still on television
