TEN preparing 2011 launch

Is it that time of year again already? By mid-September, TEN will rollout its 2011 Programme Launch.

Is it that time of year again already?

By mid-September, TEN will rollout its 2011 Programme Launch revealing its plans for next year, in city-hosted events.

No doubt set to capitalise on the October Commonwealth Games, the Launch is much earlier than its 2010 Launch which was late October.

This week has been dicey for TEN with the woes of Don’t Stop Believing in the UK as well as NBC pulling Breakthrough with Tony Robbins after just two episodes.

It may also be where we learn if Hamish and Andy are to appear more on the network. The latest speculation on the two today notes the two may end their radio career in favour of more TV work.

Their radio contract ends at the end of the year.

Could mid-September also be when we will discover plans for a new digital channel from TEN and changes for 6 – 7pm?

The Launch will be pitched to both Advertisers and Media at once.

All will be revealed soon enough…

  1. @ Andrew: I’m all for more entertainment, but I’m a bigger fan of quality over quantity. And that include’s a network’s quantity of viewers. I was just looking back at some old stuff I taped during GO!’s launch a year ago, and it brought back good memories. They had a programme, themed nights and shows were guaranteed their time slot each week. I used to enjoy monday nights, felt a bit like a cable channel with Dog, Neighbours at war, and lads army. I’d always manage to catch at leas one of those shows. Tuesday nights I watched for survivor, wednesday for shows like Fringe, and the weekends had regular general entertainment shows.

Now days, GO!’s programming is all over the place, and apart from taping Richie Rich last weekend, I haven’t watched GO! since Fringe ended. That’s not necessarily due to a lack of good shows, rather, it’s a lack of knowledge as to when good shows will actually air- sure there’s the EPG, but I’m not going to look at daily to find out if a show is/ isnt on. As with other channels, I generally assume a certain show will be on at the same timeslot each week, until episodes run out. That’s how I watch ten and seven, and on the very odd occasion, Nine.

  2. TEN need to get that 3rd channel up and running so they can have a home for Supernatural and other shows they have dropped over the years. Some nights 2 or 3 percent would make all the difference.

I hate what Nine has done with GO! now, dropping shows/movies at the last minute all in the name of ratings while sticking first run shows at midnight. I just hope with the new seasons about to get underway and GO! fast tracking some of those shows that they don’t just dump them for no reason apart from lower than expected ratings. It will be no better than when we just had the main channels. (note to self, call ADSL provider…)

Right now I don’t watch much of 7TWO as I’ve either seen the shows or just not interested in them. Probably watch more on ABC2.

  3. ONE HD is an example of a great multi-channel. They aren’t hopping all over the place trying to get high ratings; they’re sticking to what they originally promised.

I don’t watch Go! Or 7two anymore, and haven’t for a while, the channels both went down hill when they focused on beating each other in audience share for each night, over providing a quality secondary channel. So I really hope ten has axed the 3rd channel.

GO!, you can go. 7two, you can too!

  4. In the words of Helen Love-joy: “Won’t somebody please think of the children”!
    4:00 Raymond
    4:30 Huey
    5:00 Neighbours
    5:30 Simpsons
    6:00 News Hour
    7:00 7PM Project
    7:30 MC Australia/various
Sundays 6-7pm is better off as a test pattern! But Modern Family is doing good.
