X Factor waiting in the wings

If Seven is planning an Idol-like week of X Factor auditions then it has just cleared the decks from August 30th.

Is Seven planning an X Factor week?

It’s been the whisper that Seven will kick off the show with an Idol-like week of back to back auditions, to whip through the early stuff and get to the main game.

It could begin 7:30pm Monday August 30, given that Seven has announced finals of RSPCA Animal Rescue and Under the Hammer on August 23 (that was fast!).

Seven has also left 7:30pm as a TBA for Tuesday August 31, Wednesday Sept 1 and Thursday Sept 2 (including in Sydney where The Matty Johns Show airs -although that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s out).

Dancing with the Stars ends on Sunday August 29 so X Factor is still the hot tip for 7:30pm Sunday September 5 too.

  1. didn’t X-Factor used to be on TEN and failed miserably in the ratings and left the screens very quickly a few years back? hosted by Daniel McPherson?
I wonder if the same fate awaits this remake?

  2. @Kuttsywood- I doubt it. They will just shift Matty Johns to 8:30pm. They will never play a decent show on Sat. Thats not their mentality.

Look forward to it- I am hoping for a Mon/Tues arrangement otherwise Bones will be stuffed around and I dont want that

  3. My prediction: X Factor will air the fourth audition show on Thursday in AFL states only.

NRL states would probably get the fourth audition ep, on Saturday September 4, at 6:30pm.

Sydney would get good ratings: but Brisbane could be pulverised as that slot is against Riverfire on Nine. Really big, as 7’s year-end results in Brisbane may ride on how it fares on Riverfire night (let alone the night of the F111 farewell).

What is the use of 7 dumping Matty Johns, a week out from the NRL finals?

  4. It’s looking very likely that this will happen. And it would be understandable if Seven wanted to get through all the auditions in one week. In recent years with Idol, we have seen audiences turn off, if they have to wait too long.

I also remember Idol beginning last year in early-August which I think was a little bit later than the earlier seasons (correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Season2 begin in mid-July?).

I think that X Factor also starts its finals with 12 contestants so with such a late start time, Seven will definitely need to do something like this arrangement.

  5. i think a full week start would be ok. but i don’t think it should go to sundays. 7 can easily put together a good sunday lineup without X. and when you have a show like Masterchef 6 nights a week and sunday is consistently one of the weakest nights it is quite clear that it is not the night for reality. SYTYCD and Idol both struggled there and DWTS dropped a lot when it moved there.

    i’m still hoping for a Mon/Tues schedule.
